The fourteen root downfalls of the earth, eight gross ones. The root of the Nyingma school is body, speech, and mind, with twenty-five branches, extensively taught in millions of categories. If summarized, the twenty-eight must be protected. It is best if the roots are not damaged. The subtle details are difficult to know and difficult to protect. Therefore, one should not think that there is no harm and that high realization is enough; confession is necessary. In the Sutra Requested by the Ocean, the Bhagavan said: Lord of the Nagas, those who have gone forth into the well-spoken Dharma-Vinaya but have not perfectly completed the precepts, whose rituals have declined, whose livelihood has declined, and whose precepts are not fully complete, but whose views are upright, will not be born in the hells of sentient beings. After death, they will be reborn as Nagas and will be born in various places. Therefore, confession of the subtle details is very important. If one confesses, will one be purified? In the Great Nirvana Sutra, it says: If one commits sins and later regrets and corrects them, it is like muddy water that is cleared by clear water, or like the moon that is clear after the clouds have dispersed. How should one confess? One should confess through the four powers. The power of regret is to regret the sins committed in the past. The power of remedy is to practice virtue as a remedy for sins. The power of restraint is to cut off and restrain from committing sins in the future. The power of reliance is to take refuge in the Three Jewels. Previously, Sorong Trengchen killed nine hundred and ninety-nine people, the boy Dejye did not kill, Chung Gawa was attached to women, Prince Tongden killed his father, and Prince Detong killed three thousand people, but they were also purified through confession. Therefore, it is said: Whoever previously committed sins due to carelessness, but later becomes careful, that person is as beautiful as the moon free from clouds, like Gawa, Sorong, Tongden, and Dejye. Thus it is said. In the Vajra Verses spoken by Avalokiteshvara, it says: The collection of sins born of nature, those who are skilled in the means and wisdom of confession through relative and ultimate truth, meditate on the instruction of combining the four syllables of Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱི,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽). As it is said, one abides in an ordinary state, and on the crown of one's head is a white Hrīḥ (藏文,梵文天城体:ह्रीः,梵文罗马拟音:hrīḥ,汉语字面意思:舍) with a bindu and a long vowel mark, from which rays of light emanate.

Think in this way. From that, nectar like milk descends, washing away all sins and obscurations within the body. Visualize smoke and soot-like impurities being expelled from the pores, veins, water passages, and between the toenails, and the entire body being filled with pure white wisdom nectar. This is the practice of purifying sins. The practice of radiating and gathering light to purify all sins and obscurations is: From the syllable ཧྲཱིཿ (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: Sha) , light with five colors radiates like the light of a thousand suns, purifying all sins and obscurations within the body, like the sun rising in the darkness. The inside of the body is filled with light, and the five-colored light radiates outwards, contemplating that all beings' illnesses, evil spirits, and sins are purified. This is the practice of purifying obscurations. During these times, one should also verbally recite ཧྲཱིཿ (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: Sha). Finally, one's own body dissolves into light and merges into the syllable ཧཱུྃ་ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum). The syllable ཧྲཱིཿ (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: Sha) also becomes ra ta la, ra ta ha khog la, de gi gu la in sequence, and then, like a rainbow disappearing into the sky, one rests in a state of non-conceptuality. This is the great purification. Meditate as it is said. Afterwards, looking at the mind of the meditator is the ultimate confession. As it is said in the Sutra of Differentiating Karma: "Whoever wishes to confess, should sit upright and look at reality. In reality, look at reality. This is the supreme repentance." Thus it is said. (8) Profound instructions on great compassion, methods for accumulating merit, offering the mandala is: From the vajra verses spoken by Avalokiteshvara: "Endowed with seven limbs and excellent qualities, offer the outer, inner, and secret mandalas. Knowing all dharmas to be like illusions, one should also train in the accumulation of wisdom." And, in the Tantra of the Clear Blazing Space: "On a mandala of earth, wood, and jewels, taking the object of focus as support, offer many mandalas, elaborate and concise. Through this, one's own lineage completes the two accumulations. Temporarily, awareness meets its own face. Ultimately, one establishes oneself in the primordial state." And, if an actual mandala offering is not available, it is sufficient to offer through mental creation. Piles of flour equal to Mount Meru, etc., are said to be mental creations. How could actual objects be like that? In all Buddha-fields and realms of the world, self
