Now, emptiness does not establish anything. In that very state, the body should not move, speech should not speak, and the mind should be released without contrivance. For example, a herdsman training an ox: if he holds it too tightly, the ox will become angry and jump up; if he doesn't watch it, it will run away. So, he loosens and controls it. Likewise, if one's own mind is held too tightly, one will become tired and thoughts will arise. If one does not meditate, habitual tendencies will run wild. Therefore, one should loosen and control, and recognize awareness with the watchman of mindfulness. When one rests in this uncontrived way, of the four—past thoughts, future thoughts, present thoughts, and the uncontrived ground of all—the first three are liberated. One should cultivate shamatha, resting uncontrived, and vipassanā, in which fresh, stainless wisdom arises, without attachment. So it is said. Similarly, in the guiding instructions of the Great Compassionate Avalokiteśvara Light Offering, it says: Know all conceptual thoughts to be your own mind. As they arise in the mind, they are liberated in the mind. Knowing that they are made by the mind, recognize them in the mind. However they arise, without rejection or acceptance, knowing them to be your own mind is the manifestation of unawareness as the sambhogakaya of awareness. A slight feeling of ease, clarity, and spaciousness will come. In that ordinary awareness, the natural state of being, without distraction or contrivance, although there is nothing to grasp as a substance in emptiness, emptiness itself is enjoyed as self-luminous and ungraspable. Therefore, one experiences the wisdom of awareness as perfect enjoyment. Realize all outer conceptual thoughts as your own mind. Realize the inner nature of mind as insubstantial emptiness. Realize the intermediate experience as great bliss. When the three—outer, inner, and intermediate—are liberated into one without difference, that single one is also one and not one. Without partiality, the outer and inner are boundless, pervading all. The naked essence of awareness, insubstantial and self-luminous, is without support. However it is done, there is no obscuration or clarity; it remains clear and distinct. This is the dharmakaya. So it is said. When King Trisong Detsen asked Orgyen Rinpoche Padmasambhava: Great Teacher, in order to accomplish the result of Buddhahood from the cause of sentient beings, the view of realization is most precious at the beginning. What is the view of realization? The Teacher said: The pinnacle of all views, the heart essence of bodhicitta.

That is the oral instruction. All the three thousand great thousand worlds, all the Sugatas of the three times and ten directions, and all sentient beings of the three realms are of one meaning, gathered in the essence of Bodhicitta. The so-called "mind" refers to the various phenomena that arise naturally without being made. Then, what is the difference between Buddha and sentient beings? The difference lies only in whether or not one has realized the mind. Although the Buddha has the mind, he does not recognize it. Because he does not recognize the nature of the mind, he wanders in the six realms. Then, what is the method to realize the mind? For this, it is said that the oral instruction of the holy lama is needed. The so-called "mind" is something that can be remembered, known, and experienced. Do not look at the mind outwardly, but look inwardly. Seek the mind with the mind, determine the nature of the mind with the mind. Observe where the mind first came from, where it now stays, and where it will eventually go. Thus, by observing one's own mind, one cannot find its origin, dwelling place, or destination. Because its essence cannot be expressed by saying "like this," the mind has no inside or outside, no viewer or viewed. It is vast wisdom that is free from edges and center, it is the wisdom of great emptiness, it is primordial liberation, pervasive and vast wisdom. It abides in itself as the self-nature of wisdom, it is not artificial, but wisdom itself abides in itself, recognizing this is the view, and one should have firm conviction in it. The so-called "support and supported" is like the sky, naturally spontaneously accomplished. Like the sun, it is the enemy of the darkness of ignorance. Like the lotus, it is not stained by faults. Like gold, its Dharma nature does not change. Like the ocean, it does not waver. Like the river, it is continuous. Like a dwelling place, there is no gathering or separation. Like Mount Meru, it does not move or change. It is said that when one realizes such a meaning and abides in that realization, one is a person with realization. Furthermore, Orgyen Rinpoche gave instructions to the king and subjects, the instruction to Jomo: Listen with faith, because the mind has no essence, so in the natural, uncorrected, spontaneously accomplished state, rest without distraction in the state of no meditation. By abiding in this state, the mind itself will naturally be liberated, that is becoming a Buddha. It is said that Tsogyal was liberated immediately because of this. The instruction to Langpal Gyiseng-ge: Son of lineage, listen.
