He rode so fast that he couldn't control the horse and was carried beyond nine valleys and nine mountains. On a deserted seashore, the horse stumbled, and the horse also fell into the sea. There was no way to return to his homeland, and there wasn't a single person. He was frightened and sad. From somewhere, an old woman with gray hair appeared and said, "There isn't a single person in this place. Where did you come from originally?" He told her his story. The old woman said, "This is the edge of the ocean, and there isn't a single person. I have a daughter. Would you like to live with her?" He thought, "Even though I am a prince, I have no other choice," so he stayed with her. After a long time, they had a son and a daughter. One day, the old woman died, and they went to carry her body to the mountain for burial. The woman also drowned herself in the water due to longing for her mother. As he flew over like an eagle, the little daughter also fell into the water and was carried away by the current. He thought of rescuing her, but when he put the little son down, the little son was carried away by a wolf. He was extremely sad, crying and beating his chest, shouting loudly, and he grew old, and his hair turned white. Just then, the magician dispelled the illusion. The prince woke up from his dream and summoned the ministers, saying, "I have a story of joy and sorrow to tell." The ministers said, "You haven't experienced that much joy and sorrow. You haven't moved from your throne, and the food offered before you hasn't cooled down. How could this be?" But the prince didn't listen. He told all the experiences in detail and said, "In any case, I don't need it anymore." So he renounced the throne and entered the path of Dharma. Just like this story, even though the prince didn't leave his throne, he was deluded by the magician's spells and the power of objects, and he suffered for a long time. Similarly, the nature of our sentient beings' minds, the inherent Tathagatagarbha, whose essence has never departed from the Dharmakaya, yet because we don't recognize ourselves, we accumulate the power of various sins and obscurations, wander in samsara, and suffer for a long time. Just as the prince didn't leave his throne when he was deluded by the illusion, the nature of the Tathagatagarbha doesn't deteriorate even when we wander in samsara. For example, pure, unadulterated gold, when made into a dog's bowl by a skilled goldsmith, or into a broom for sweeping unclean things, becomes dirty when contaminated by uncleanliness. But if it is melted down, it can be made into a golden saddle, earrings, and bracelets.

If decorated with ornaments such as hats and gayas, it will become a beautiful ornament. If it is dismantled, a Buddha statue is built and consecrated, it will become a place of worship and offering for everyone. In this way, although there are three types of good, bad, and medium due to the difference in craftsmanship, just like the essence does not change from gold, wandering in samsara, attaining bhumis and paths, and even at the time of ultimate Buddhahood, the essence of the mind does not change. For example, just as ordinary stones do not produce silver even when burned, if the essence of the Buddha is not in the continuum of sentient beings, even if they practice Dharma, they will not achieve the result of Buddhahood. Therefore, it is said: All dharmas arise from causes. Just as melting the silver in silver ore, it first becomes a silver block, then a silver ingot, and finally pure silver, because sentient beings have the Tathagatagarbha in their continuum, so if you recognize this and practice it, you will first generate realization, gradually advance through the bhumis and paths, and finally become a Buddha. From the Profound Inner Meaning: The essence of the stainless victor is, impure, impure, pure and extremely pure, in that order, sentient beings abide on the path, and the Tathagatas are also in that order, therefore, one should understand its meaning. In this way, this mind-essence has been abiding in the nature of the Dharmakaya from the beginning, so after thoroughly recognizing and ascertaining this, without making any modifications or adulterations of hope and fear to it, it is enough to maintain the nature of whatever arises. For example, making various shapes such as deity statues, ghost statues, and human statues on brown sugar, and eating them in sequence, although the shapes are different, the sweetness of brown sugar is the same. For the mind, no matter what kind of thoughts, good or non-good, arise, observing its nature will manifest as Mahamudra, just like all the different shapes of brown sugar have the same sweetness.
