Because of saying good wishes to someone who stopped breastfeeding after having a child, that almsgiver became a great enjoyment of gods and humans for sixty-one kalpas. Later, he was born as a householder in the country of Kosala, possessing seven-storied houses made of seven jewels, and many retinues of celestial sons and daughters, having enjoyments like those of the gods. Later, he went forth in the presence of the Blessed One and attained the Arhatship. In the past, countless kalpas ago, there were two thousand hermits living on a mountain. After hearing the news that it would not rain for twelve years, a wealthy householder promised to be the patron for twelve years. He appointed five hundred people to provide for their livelihood, but they could not sustain it and often complained, saying, "This is all for these beggars." At noon, after sending someone to invite them, a dog would also often go. One day, they forgot to invite them, but the dog went and barked. After twelve years, it started to rain, and the farmers said, "Now it's raining." So they plowed the fields, and only gourds grew, full of fruit, and all the storehouses were filled. There, the five hundred people developed faith and confessed the evil words they had spoken before. The beggars said, "For five hundred lifetimes, we were born as beggars, and later in Shravasti, the five hundred beggars went forth. Attaining Arhatship is the benefit of confession." The king and ministers invited the Buddha and his retinue, but said, "We will not invite the beggar monks." The Buddha granted permission, and those with unpleasant voices took a bowl of fruit each from the uncultivated crops, ascended into the sky, and had lunch with the Buddha. Everyone was convinced, and later they were all invited together. That householder was the Blessed One, the one guarding the storehouse was Prince Victory Banner, the inviter was King Upana, and that dog was the householder Melodious Voice, whose voice was melodious in all lifetimes. In Shravasti, there was a poor woman named Melodious Joy who, by picking grass, found a little butter and made a small butter lamp to offer to the Blessed One. The lamp remained lit, and neither inside nor outside did it diminish. Then Maudgalyayana's son thought, "There is no need for a lamp during the day." He tried to extinguish it, but could not. Then the Blessed One said, "That woman does not"

After countless two kalpas had passed, he was prophesied to be the Dipamkara Buddha. That was long ago, when the Light-Protecting Buddha and his retinue were invited at the same time by one wealthy woman and two poor women. The poor woman arrived first. Due to the arrogance of her high birth and wealth, she said, "He did not come to me first, but went to the poor woman." Having spoken evil words, she was born as a beggar for five hundred lifetimes. The next day, she offered and paid homage with faith and met the Thuba and received the prophecy of enlightenment. Thus it was said. Everyone offered immeasurable lamps to the Bhagavan. Also, long ago, in the presence of the Buddha Jewel Crest, a virtuous monk offered lamps for three months, for which he begged for alms. A king's daughter gave him much oil, so he found that he did not need to beg for alms and could offer lamps for three months. For countless kalpas, the two of them experienced the happiness of humans and gods, and their forms also became particularly excellent. Eventually, that monk became the Dipamkara Buddha, and the daughter became Shakyamuni, and even after becoming a Buddha, there were many who offered lamps. In the teachings of the Buddha Light-Protecting, a monk named Parpa said to a monk who was jumping over a furrow, "Your jumping is like a nimble monkey." The monk said, "I am an arhat, do not speak nonsense." He confessed, but was born as a monkey for five hundred lifetimes. Later, they confessed to each other, met Shakyamuni, and offered honey. Immediately after dying and being born as a human, the house was filled with honey. Later, he became a monk and attained arhatship, becoming the supreme monk Honey. Therefore, guarding against idle talk is very important. Long ago, there were many stupas that protected all Buddhas. When one of them was destroyed, an old woman helped to repair it and made aspirations with the help of ten people. For ninety-one kalpas, she was born together with gods and humans. She was beautiful and handsome, respected by all, and would never fall into hell. Later, she became the youngest daughter of the householder Anathapindika, named Sumana. She became beautiful to look at and was taken by a king's son, and ten eggs were born, from which ten sons were born. These sons later became monks and became arhats.
