Just as it is difficult for a turtle's neck to fit into the yoke hole, it is very difficult to obtain a human body. The number of beings in the three lower realms is like the dust on the earth, and the number of beings in the higher realms (heavenly realms) is like the dust on a fingernail. From the bottom of the body in the hell realm, to the waist of the Asura realm, and to the top of the body, the number is equal to the number of human bodies. Nowadays, even the armies of great kings who are said to be powerful are no more than the number of an ant nest. Therefore, obtaining such a precious and endowed human body is like a blind person obtaining a jewel. If you miss it this time, it will be difficult to obtain it again in the future, so you must think that this time you cannot be negligent in doing good deeds. This endowed human body is extremely difficult to obtain. If you have obtained a human body that has achieved meaning, but you do not make use of it, how can you obtain it again in the future? You should recite and contemplate these words from the "Bodhicharyavatara". Therefore, you should regard the body as a boat, the breath as a horse, and the mind as a boatman, and go around the Dharma. Relying on the boat of the human body, you can be liberated from the great river of suffering. This boat is difficult to obtain in the future, so do not fall asleep in life. You should also remember these words. Why? Because even if you obtain a human body that is difficult to obtain, it is easy to destroy. The external container world is also impermanent, and will be destroyed by seven suns, a flood, wind, etc. The increase and decrease of kalpas, seasons, and four seasons are also constantly changing, and all conditioned phenomena are impermanent. All container and sentient worlds are changing and passing away in every moment. The so-called permanence is like the continuation of a similar river. The internal sentient beings are also impermanent, because the lifespan of Jambudvipa is not fixed, the body is a collection of impure things, without real meaning, and from birth, as the years, months, days, and hours pass, the lifespan is also being exhausted. Days and nights are stealing life, and there is no way to increase life. I have not heard of anyone who has not died before. Even Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Shravakas, Brahma, Indra, Chakravartin kings, sages, and those with supernatural powers and clairvoyance must eventually pass away. We will definitely die, and when we will die is also uncertain. Even so, we will die unprepared. Now, it is often seen that people who are still alive in the morning are tied up with ropes and die in the evening. Why do I think that this will not happen to me?

Thinking thus: It is not wise to live comfortably, saying, "I will not die today only." When I am gone, it will inevitably be devoured by demons. Between tomorrow and the next world, it is uncertain which will come first. Do not strive for the sake of tomorrow's livelihood, but strive for the sake of the next life. Thus, recite and meditate on the words of the Bodhisattvacharyavatara. If there is freedom to be born after death, then it is enough. Where one is born is determined by one's own karma. From the peak of existence to Avici Hell, all sentient beings experience different degrees of happiness and suffering, high and low, great and small, strong and weak. This is not, as the Tirthikas claim, created by Ishvara and Brahma, nor does it arise from the cause of nature. All of this arises from one's own karma. The Karmashataka says: "Deeds are also of various kinds, and by them beings are made various." The Abhidharmakosha says: "From karma arises the variety of the world." Thus, the karma accumulated through desire leads to rebirth as a hungry ghost, that accumulated through hatred leads to rebirth in hell, that accumulated through ignorance leads to rebirth as an animal, a little virtue mixed with jealousy leads to rebirth as an Asura, keeping the precepts leads to rebirth as a human and a desire realm god, attachment and clinging to tranquility leads to rebirth as a form realm god. That which ripens in this life is experienced in this life. That which ripens without interruption from another life is an uninterrupted karma. That which ripens in another life and another life is experienced in another number of times. If one commits sins in the first part of life and performs virtuous deeds at the time of death, although one is drawn by the sin that propels one, the virtuous deed that completes it completes it, and the virtuous result ripens first. If one performs virtuous deeds in the previous life but commits sins at the time of death, the virtuous deed that propels one is completed by the sin, so the sinful result ripens first. Whichever of virtue or sin is done first, the initial intention and the actual deed, if there is joy and no regret afterwards, the result is great. If both are complete, the result is medium. If one is incomplete, the result is small. With a firm intention, for the benefit of sentient beings, committing sins without hesitation is a black karma with a white ripening. Performing virtuous deeds for the sake of surpassing others, seeking fame, desiring profit and respect, is a white karma with a black ripening. If one regrets after performing virtuous deeds, if arrogance, anger, and regret arise, the roots of virtue are destroyed. Sins should not be concealed. Do not think of it with shame, but confess with sincerity and regret the sins of the past.
