Without abiding in emptiness, merging with the self-illuminating, clear, and unfabricated light, the mind's nature, awareness-emptiness, is revealed nakedly. Thus, abiding in what is called the Great Seal. As it is said, abide in that way. This is a method for generating meditation that has not arisen, and an excellent method for increasing what has arisen. When meditating during sleep, one attains the clear light, and when meditating at the time of death, one attains the clear light of death. In short, it is a well-known great instruction of the completion stage. Then, during the breaks between sessions, visualize Hevajra with two hands holding ornaments and hand gestures, a deity without a consort, and contemplate that all phenomena are not truly established, but are like illusions and dreams. Generate the intention to benefit beings as long as samsara exists. Visualize a white Om (藏文:ཨོ་,梵文天城体:ओ,梵文罗马拟音:o,汉语字面意思:Om) at the heart, a yellow Nama (藏文:ན་མ་,梵文天城体:नमः,梵文罗马拟音:namaḥ,汉语字面意思:Nama) at the head, a red Svaha Hum (藏文:སྭཱ་ཧཱ་ཧུ་,梵文天城体:स्वाहा हुं,梵文罗马拟音:svāhā huṃ,汉语字面意思:Svaha Hum) at the crown of the head, black Vaisat He (藏文:བཻ་ཥ་ཊ་ཧེ་,梵文天城体:वैषट् हे,梵文罗马拟音:vaiṣaṭ he,汉语字面意思:Vaisat He) at both shoulders, and red-yellow Hum Hum He (藏文:ཧཱུྃ་ཧཱུྃ་ཧེ་,梵文天城体:हुं हुं हे,梵文罗马拟音:huṃ huṃ he,汉语字面意思:Hum Hum He) at both eyes. Visualize all limbs adorned with green Phat Ham Phat Ham) armor. Believe that the clothes are silk, the lower garment is tiger skin, and the seat is a lotus sun disc, etc. When walking, circumambulate the mandala of Hevajra on the right, who resides on a lotus stem. When sitting, prostrate. When sleeping, practice the yoga of the clear light Dharmakaya. Having grasped dreams, transform into the Sambhogakaya. When awake, practice the yoga of the Nirmanakaya with the causal body. During ordinary times and in meditative absorption, practice the yoga of the Svabhavikakaya, the nature of awareness-emptiness. Thus, practice the yoga of the four bodies. Even if one is a beginner, one should recite and meditate on these as much as possible. Afterwards, like a fish in water, may I, with the glorious vows and illusory body, benefit beings as long as samsara exists. Adorned with the armor of mantras and excellent marks, circumambulate and prostrate to the mandala when walking and sitting. The states of waking, dreaming, sleeping, and ordinary times are the liberation of the four bodies' yoga of illusion. Thus, recite and meditate. This preliminary practice of the four stages of generation and completion was spoken by Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo. Then, when practicing calm abiding, some Tibetan scholars have forbidden holding the mind on pieces of wood and pebbles, but it appears in some sutras and is a good tradition of the predecessors. However, Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo said, "Make a bowl out of black earth or black tsampa, and insert a black peg four fingers long into it, and that with the lunar phase"

It is said that it is good to focus on the symbol of sound. So, how should one focus on a stone or something similar? Then, as stated in the Samadhiraja Sutra, contemplate Shakyamuni Buddha in the sky and focus one-pointedly on his heart or the urna hair between his eyebrows. Lord Konchog Bang said, "If the root of abiding of mind is not stable, the good experiences of shamatha and vipashyana will not arise. Therefore, whether it is with or without an object, cultivate the abiding of holding one-pointedly." As he said, one should try to abide one-pointedly on it as much as possible. Once accustomed to it, the mind will stay steadily wherever it is directed, without wandering. If it is like being able to control the mind to go wherever one wants, then the meaning of shamatha is accomplished. This is the method of meditating on shamatha with an object. Nowadays, some people think that shamatha is a bad thing, but it is said that all the abhijñas and miracles come from shamatha. From obtaining leisure and endowments to shamatha with an object, all the tenets seem to be similar. Then, there are two different ways of introducing the wisdom or view of vipashyana: the panditas and scholars, in accordance with the explanations from the sutras, tantras, and great treatises, first cut off doubts from the outside through hearing, following the system of the sutras and tantras, and by reasoning of the four extremes, arising and ceasing, and being separate from one, establish the selflessness of phenomena and the selflessness of persons, thereby identifying the view to be practiced, and then practice patience. Otherwise, even if one practices, it is like shooting an arrow without seeing the target, and it is uncertain what will happen. The system of profound pith instructions is the system of the great yogis Kusulupas. Kharag Gomchung said, "Life has no leisure, words have no end. Therefore, enjoy the sacred Dharma." As he said, no matter how one cuts the edge of words, there is no end. Therefore, pray to an accomplished lama and practice, and through the power of blessing, the view will arise from within. Therefore, introducing the view after practicing beforehand makes it easier to understand, and this is also the common system of the Kagyu lineage. From the mouth of my guide, the Lord of Dharma, "If possible, it is best to follow the Dharma of those with sharp faculties. If not possible, follow those with dull faculties who have faith." I heard these words. Thus, both...
