Their greed is immense, demanding mounts, loads, garments, and food. Even when given, they are not satisfied and utter harsh words. Some even demand horses and yaks as rewards when slaughtering livestock for rituals. Some offer old dog meat and rotten cloth, yet desire donations. They go to Han lands to perform rituals and even buy dog meat. Some monks with corrupt conduct obtain Dharma and empowerments everywhere. They say they come here seeking Dharma, desiring clothes and winter provisions as rewards. Some carry tattered, incomplete Chö and mantra texts, seeking empowerments and transmissions, then travel to villages for rituals, only thinking of eating and drinking. Even if they receive complete empowerments and transmissions, they cannot write. Even if they know how to write, they lack paper, ink, and pens. They say they must be paid to write scriptures. Some, unwilling to engage in retreat, desire to take on responsibilities for sharp, beneficial, and harmful activities. Some, with doubt and suspicion, say that activities like celestial Dharma are useless because they have not completed recitation and practice, and no signs have appeared, thus developing wrong views about the lama and Dharma. Some divulge extremely secret instructions like Dzogchen Tögal everywhere, gossiping and chattering. They utter sounds of transference, transmission, secret mantras like "Hik," like a mountain collapsing. Some propitiate wisdom deities and worldly gods, wanting to quickly accomplish swift protectors and display signs. Some desire to receive vast empowerments and transmissions during times when there are no summer or autumn retreats, and no village rituals. During grand teaching assemblies, those wandering monks of summer and winter scold and curse, saying, "Close the door and beat the dog." Some do not believe, saying that this place has many disciples because it has wealth and instructions. Some say that rituals beyond the transference of consciousness are pretending not to know, but they actually know everything. Some say that Cham dances and masked dances are all nonsense, chasing after fame and gain. Some monks begin to feel afflicted. Some kind patrons think that gathering so much wealth without engaging in retreat, and offering it to officials, is a waste. Some say, "Gathering so much wealth, why not build the Kangyur?" Some speculate that there are many precious items like gold and silver inside the monastery. Like pouring water into sand, no matter how much is offered, it will all be used up.
