Having received just a little guidance, without practicing it themselves, they want to guide and teach others in a masculine manner. Some only request a Powa (འཕོ་བ, transference of consciousness) transmission, without practicing to manifest signs, yet they want to guide the deceased by performing transference for others. Some, regarding just one Yidam, without doing the practice and recitation, perform empowerment, burn effigies, and incinerate mantras, desiring the enjoyment of wealth. If they receive empowerment and transmission, even fasting is done for the sake of pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, and subduing, etc., other than for the benefit of this life, few practice for enlightenment. Some, regarding rituals and practices, do not learn well with wisdom, but proceed haphazardly, without head or tail. They even say that the Lama said to do it this way. Some request grand empowerments and transmissions, saying that the lineage does not come from the Buddha's lineage, but is nonsense. Some stay for about ten days, developing the desire to obtain everything. After doing whatever empowerment and transmission, they are unhappy because the empowerment practice is little. They say they don't have time to stay long, and they say they must obtain everything. Some vulgar and ignorant beggars are a sign of having no restraint from empowerment and Dharma, not cultivating practice and contemplation, but remaining in a state of idle chatter and play. Immediately, in these recent months, they hold in their minds the remaining wealth. Some powerful and influential patrons say they must go now, saying they need profound and strict empowerment. If told that they need to practice the empowerment a little, they say they are not free and won't go, with no excuse. Also, some bring offerings of medicine and ritual for ailments such as life-force disturbances, madness, fainting, leprosy, eyebrow loss, phlegm disorders, indigestion, throat swelling, tumors, and other chronic diseases, carrying them from distant lands, saying they have come because they have faith in you, saying you know how to treat these. For patients with infectious diseases, they say they need blessings. Suddenly, without humility, they sit in front. Being punished and getting sick is the ripening of past karma. For the blind and crippled, they complain that the Lama has done too much, and they argue that they need things to ride, carry, wear, and eat. They are unhappy with what is given and speak badly. Some even kill living beings, arguing that they need payment of horses and mules. Some offer old dog meat and rotten Chinese food, wanting to receive generosity. Throughout China.
