I, the third. Adornment for those who hold the name of Dharma. This small tune with its nine complete ornaments, Was written when inspiration arose in the pleasant northern plains where the grass grows well, When the encampment arrived. Though the inspiration is wondrous, it also holds some meaning. ༈ །།Namo Guru Armetriye. Homage to the Guru, the Uncontentious Friend) Now, in these times of the five degenerations, Demons have entered the mouths of people. Those worthy of praise, the victorious ones, are criticized, While those worthy of blame, the demonic kind, are praised. Mouths and tongues stir up discord and strife, Lies and slander rage like the wind. Truth does not circulate, falsehood circulates. In these times of uncertainty, All places are like cracks in rocks. If there is no grasping, happiness is attained. To a poor and humble beggar like me, In places like Spungri Nangso in the east, Some who possess wisdom and accomplishment, Say that I am an emanation of Avalokiteśvara, Joining their palms and proclaiming it in the marketplace. Others say that my empowerments and transmissions, Are not reliably sourced because they were requested from my father. Many compositions such as "The Source of Dharma," Are criticized, saying that it is inappropriate for anyone other than the victorious father and sons to do them. Some of my own root disciples, Mix the rituals and practices with other traditions. I hear that they do various things according to their own ideas. When I hear this, there is no thorn in my mind. Although it is like hearing the sound of a rockslide, When I examine the meaning of it with subsequent knowledge, Such thoughts arise in my mind: Alas! An old beggar like me, Now death is very near. Although praising those worthy of praise is Dharma, I have no qualities whatsoever. Seeing someone like me as an emanation, Is a sign of their own pure perception. Even if one praises someone without qualities, It is like praising copper as gold. After I myself have died, No matter what praise or prayers are made, There is not even a particle of benefit for me. Therefore, there is no reason to be happy with praise. Even if one blames someone who possesses qualities, That person will not become bad because of it. Even if one says that this gold is copper, All the wise will give a high price. After I have died, Even if I am blamed, there will be no harm. Therefore, praise and blame are equal in taste. In the definitive meaning, when looking at the nature of the sound of praise and blame, Both are no different, their nature is empty. Sound and emptiness are the great seal itself. Therefore, equal in taste, without joy or sorrow. Those who are named great meditators and teachers, Whether it is me or someone else like me, If they are too happy with praise, Then they will give

Entrust your heart to the Guru. Hearing abuse gives rise to anger. Fighting and arguing or speaking ill. Curses and other evil deeds are performed. The mindstream is not liberated, it is one's own sign. Realization is not born as it is, teaching and arguing are signs of confidence. Therefore, the measure of realization and, the profound instruction of diligent practice is: Praising oneself and pleasant words, unpleasant abuse and slander, etc., taking the obtained path as instruction, is considered the essence of profound Dharma. Especially those who abuse and slander, are the virtuous friends who explain the Great Seal of Sound and Emptiness. Now I purify the pure appearances. In the gazebo by the Kechu River, this is what I said to myself. ༈ །།Namo Mahamudra Ye. From the empty sky where nothing is accomplished, clouds suddenly appear from nowhere. Various kinds of rain and blizzards fall without certainty. From the empty sky where nothing is accomplished, various phenomena of samsara and nirvana appear from nowhere. Various appearances manifest, happiness and suffering without certainty. From the empty nature of mind where nothing is accomplished, various kinds of thoughts arise from nowhere. Various kinds of virtuous and non-virtuous actions are accumulated. From the empty thoughts where nothing is accomplished, various kinds of experiences arise from nowhere. Various kinds of experiences and sounds are spoken, noisy and chaotic. The emptiness of the sky where nothing is accomplished, is an example of the emptiness of one's own mind. From the expanse of the sky, the gathering of clouds, is an example of the various thoughts of one's own mind. From the clouds, rain and hail fall, is an example of the followers of thoughts, good and evil. The clouds dissipate and dissolve into the sky, is an example of the arising and liberation of thoughts dissolving into the dharmadhatu. No matter what appears, clouds, fog, and water vapor, the nature of the sky does not change, is an example of the unchanging nature of mind. The clear sky manifests rainbows, is an example of the deity's body in the illusory stage of generation. The indivisible union of sky and rainbow, is an example of the union of generation and completion stages. The emptiness of the sky where nothing is accomplished, is an example of the ultimate truth of dharmata. The various clouds, rain, and rainbows, are examples of the conventional truth of phenomena. From the emptiness of the sky, rain and clouds fall, is an example of the union of conventional and ultimate truths. That's it.
