Because of the absence that extends, all containers and contents, samsara and nirvana, dissolve into light and merge into the Vidyadharas. All the retinues of the Vidyadharas merge into the three roots. The three roots also merge into Kuntuzangpo and Garab Dorje. Garab Dorje merges into Orgyen (Padmasambhava). Orgyen Rinpoche also dissolves into light and merges into me, so this body of mine also dissolves into light, and meditate on it dissolving into nothingness like a rainbow disappearing into the sky. Without distraction, look at your own mind for a moment and stay for a while. At that time, do not think about all the things you have done before, and do not plan what you are going to do now. Just look at what you are thinking in your mind now. The essence of the mind, not seeing any shape, color, or object, is emptiness. It is not that there is nothing, but that everything is remembered and clear, which is called luminosity. Sometimes, not remembering anything, just staying still, is called abiding. Sometimes, wandering and running around everywhere is called moving. Whether abiding or moving, whatever you do, knowing is knowing. There is no good or bad in abiding or moving, both are mind, there is no difference. If it is too rough and uncomfortable, relax your body and mind, let go, let it go wherever it wants, and then guard it from afar, and it will come back and abide in peace. If you are too focused on abiding and become dull and hazy, tighten your body and mind and look sharply, and it will become clear. If you look for too long and it is not clear, shorten the time you look and increase the number of times you look. Sometimes it is clear and certainty arises. Sometimes it is not clear and doubt arises with the thought of "it seems like it is not this." Even if many good and bad things happen, do not give up, continue, and gradually it will be like a child understanding things. After reciting each chapter of the prayer with melody, looking at the mind, a good experience with certainty will arise immediately. This is not only during prayer, but also during eating, drinking, walking, sleeping, and sitting, always remember to watch for a moment. No matter what shapes the eyes see, such as mountains, rocks, cities, people, and animals, when the discriminating thoughts of "this is this, this is good, this is bad" arise, look sharply at the mind that thinks "this is good, this is bad," and the essence will clearly appear as emptiness.

In short, it is the samadhi of the emptiness of appearances. If one can stabilize the nature of both beauty and ugliness, good and bad, in emptiness, one will be liberated from the appearance of form. In the realm of hearing, when one hears pleasant songs, the sound of the lute, and words of love and praise, a feeling of joy arises in the mind. Observing its nature, it is emptiness. When one hears unpleasant sounds, such as the sound of crows, and words that harm or denigrate oneself, an unpleasant thought arises in the mind. Observing its nature, it is emptiness. If one can realize that pleasant and unpleasant sounds are indistinguishable and are emptiness, one will be liberated from the appearance of sound. Similarly, even if faith, pure perception, loving-kindness, compassion, and other virtuous thoughts arise in the mind, if one does not realize that its nature is emptiness, then it can only be a cause for the happiness of the world and not a cause for attaining enlightenment. Therefore, observing the nature of good thoughts, it is the union of emptiness and compassion. Good virtuous thoughts are the method, and knowing that its nature is emptiness is wisdom, therefore the union of method and wisdom is the cause for attaining enlightenment. When discursive thoughts arise in the mind, thinking what should not be thought, remembering what should not be remembered, this is the co-emergent ignorance that does not recognize itself, which is the root of wandering in endless samsara. As it is said in the 'Manifestation of Enlightenment Sutra': 'Discursive thought is great ignorance, it is the cause of wandering in the ocean of samsara.' If one recognizes oneself, then that is the co-emergent wisdom, the Great Seal. As it is said: 'Abiding in non-conceptual samadhi, abide in unawareness like the sky.' Not knowing is discursive thought, knowing is wisdom, the difference between the two is only knowing and not knowing, but as mind, there is no difference. When anger arises in the mind, it is the seed of hell. Observing the nature of anger, it has no shape, color, or substance, and dissolves into emptiness, that is mirror-like wisdom. When dark ignorance arises in the mind, it is the seed of animals. Observing its nature, realizing it is emptiness, that is the wisdom of the dharmadhatu. When pride arises in the mind, it is the cause of the decline and fall of gods. Observing its nature, liberating into emptiness, that is the wisdom of equality. When desire arises in the mind, it is the seed of hungry ghosts.
