Even if small, it transforms into small, medium, and large due to the difference in aspiration and dedication. Fearing to fall into the lower realms in the future, and desiring to attain the happiness of gods and humans, those who guard pure vows will take good bodies of gods and humans for a hundred lifetimes. Even if happiness is extremely complete, there are still birth, old age, sickness, and death, etc. In the end, fearing to fall like ordinary beings, it is called the vow of good wishes. However, that is also not a pure vow. Without experiencing the suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death, desiring to attain liberation for oneself, guarding pure vows, temporarily taking the bodies of gods and humans, with much joy as desired, ultimately attaining the fruits of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. From then on, no longer taking bodies in samsara, abiding in the state of emptiness, there is no suffering at all, called peaceful Nirvana. Even if one becomes a small Buddha, one cannot accomplish anything for the benefit of others, called solitary liberation of Shravakas, this is the middle result of the Lesser Vehicle. In order to enable all sentient beings to attain the perfect Buddha position, guarding pure vows is the Paramita of morality. Temporarily obtaining the bodies of gods and humans, and pure Buddha-fields as desired, ultimately accomplishing perfect Buddhahood. Without needing to exert effort oneself, greatly benefiting all sentient beings, this is the most excellent practice. This is the one meaning of the profound Dharma, Discipline is the common vehicle, especially the Great Vehicle, as it is said. Thus, regarding the four root and five alcoholic vows, one must know the key points of the boundaries of guarding against breaking them. Do not instigate poison, weapons, and killing. Killing a person breaks the vow from the root. Regarding sentient beings gathered as humans, a fetus in a woman's womb, using methods such as abortion, breaking the child breaks the vow. One who hangs oneself and commits suicide, killing all the peaceful and wrathful deities of the body, is worse than killing thousands of people. Fish, wild animals, young animals, etc., if one kills with the intention to kill, the vow is broken. Without the intention to kill, insects, birds, and other such things, if they die, there is sin, but it is not breaking the vows. If one's own and another's property are not the same, on the name of stealing that, stealing breaks the vow. Food without the name of stealing, parents, siblings, etc., and a large family living in the same household as oneself, even stealing
