在十一面经中，观世音菩萨说：如果念诵和忆念我的名字，将脱离一切损害，所有罪障都将净除，将从一切怖畏中解脱，将从一切邪魔中解脱并得到救护，一切美好的功德都将增长，一切不吉祥都将消失。以及在《名称赞》中说：我是大慈悲者，救护一切众生的痛苦。如果忆念我的名字，敌人的箭也无法射入，锋利的武器砍击也无法斩断。名声显赫，血统繁衍，不会缺乏食物和财富，受用增长。忆念我的名字，谁也无法战胜。即使去了荒野或森林中，也不会被狮子、老虎、豹子、熊、罴、野牦牛、毒蛇和猛兽所扰乱。仅仅忆念我的名字，一切魔障都将逃遁。即使被扔进燃烧的火堆中，仅仅忆念我的名字，也会变成充满莲花的池塘。仅仅忆念我的名字，也不会溺水，不会被水冲走，不会被火烧。谁忆念我的名字，仅仅见到他，其他人也会倾慕。不会被敌人压制，不会被毒药伤害。听到我的名字并忆念，他们不会被天、龙、夜叉、鸠盘茶、罗刹、食肉鬼和饿鬼夺取光彩。也不会被其他的咒语所伤害。如是说。在《大宝积经》中，释迦牟尼佛开示说：谁忆念圣观世音菩萨的名字，他们是具有安乐的。将从生老病死的痛苦中完全解脱。将往生极乐世界，从无量光佛那里听闻佛法。他们的身体不会有轮回的痛苦，心中不会有痛苦，相续中不会有烦恼、饥渴和贫困的痛苦，不会有胎中居住的痛苦，将被佛法的滋味所推动，在莲花中化生。圣观世音菩萨。

In the Eleven-Faced Sutra, Avalokiteśvara said: If you recite and remember my name, you will be free from all harm, all sins and obscurations will be purified, you will be liberated from all fears, you will be freed and protected from all demons and obstacles, all good qualities will increase, and all inauspiciousness will disappear. And in the Sutra of the Exalted Names, it says: I am the Great Compassionate One, saving all beings from suffering. If you remember my name, even the enemy's arrow will not penetrate, and a sharp weapon will not be able to cut. Fame will be great, lineage will flourish, there will be no lack of food and wealth, and enjoyment will increase. Remembering my name, no one will be able to defeat you. Even if you go to the wilderness or the forest, you will not be disturbed by lions, tigers, leopards, bears, grizzlies, wild yaks, poisonous snakes, and wild beasts. Just remembering my name, all obstacles will flee. Even if you are thrown into a burning fire, just remembering my name, it will turn into a pond filled with lotuses. Just remembering my name, you will not drown, you will not be carried away by water, and you will not be burned by fire. Whoever remembers my name, just seeing him, others will admire him. You will not be suppressed by enemies, and you will not be harmed by poison. Hearing my name and remembering it, they will not be able to have their radiance stolen by gods, nagas, yakshas, kumbhandas, rakshasas, flesh-eaters, and pretas. Nor will they be harmed by other mantras. Thus it is said. In the Mahāratnakūṭa Sūtra, Shakyamuni Buddha taught: Those who remember the name of the noble Avalokiteśvara are blessed with happiness. They will be completely liberated from the suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death. They will be born in the Pure Land of Sukhavati and will hear the Dharma from Amitabha Buddha. Their bodies will not experience the suffering of samsara, their minds will not experience suffering, their continuum will not experience the suffering of afflictions, hunger, thirst, and poverty, and they will not experience the suffering of dwelling in the womb. They will be moved by the taste of the Dharma and will be miraculously born in a lotus. Noble Avalokiteśvara.

亦于观自在，依止本尊而修持，即是依止而修持。于彼佛刹，恒常受持而安住。圣观自在十一面续中云：菩萨摩诃萨圣观自在所说，世尊，我之名号受持者，实有意义，胜过受持亿万佛之名号。受持我名之有情一切，即住于不退转之地。将从一切瘰疬疾病中完全解脱。将从一切业障及身语意三之罪行一切中完全解脱。如是说。于圣法白莲花经中云：若以杀戮之火，为杀戮之故而抛弃之人，若忆念观自在，如水浇灌般，火将寂灭。纵然超越大海与忧伤，于龙与生灵非天之住所，若忆念观自在，亦永不沉没于水中。以极度嗔恨之心杀戮之故，纵然从须弥山顶抛弃，若忆念观自在，如太阳般，将安住于虚空。若金刚与野兽，为杀戮之故而来至头顶，若忆念观自在，亦不能损害毫毛之孔。若众多敌人完全围绕，以杀戮之心手持刀剑，若忆念观自在，彼即刻转为慈爱之心。若临近杀戮而来，于阎罗之权势所控制之时，若忆念观自在，彼之兵器将成碎片。若以木或铁所造之物，捆绑腹部或以枷锁束缚，若忆念观自在，彼等束缚将迅速解脱。咒语与药物及力量与明咒，起尸鬼与鬼怪身体损毁，若忆念观自在，无论抛向何处，皆如是而去。夜叉非天自在龙焰燃，以夺光彩而完全围绕。

Also, relying on Avalokiteśvara as a chosen deity is to rely on and practice. In that Buddha-field, one constantly upholds and abides. In the Eleven-Faced Avalokiteśvara Dhāraṇī, it is said by the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva Ārya Avalokiteśvara: "Bhagavan, holding my name is meaningful, surpassing holding the names of billions of Buddhas. All sentient beings who hold my name will abide in the state of non-retrogression. They will be completely liberated from all scrofula diseases. They will be completely liberated from all obscurations and all misdeeds of body, speech, and mind." Thus it is said. In the Holy Dharma White Lotus Sutra, it is said: "If one is thrown into a fire of killing, for the sake of being killed, if one remembers Avalokiteśvara, the fire will be extinguished like water being poured. Even if one crosses the ocean and sorrow, in the abode of nāgas, spirits, and asuras, if one remembers Avalokiteśvara, one will never sink in the water. Even if one is thrown from the peak of Mount Sumeru because of being killed with extreme hatred, if one remembers Avalokiteśvara, one will abide in the sky like the sun. If a vajra or a wild animal comes to the head for the sake of killing, if one remembers Avalokiteśvara, it will not be able to harm even a pore of hair. If many enemies completely surround one, holding swords with the intention to kill, if one remembers Avalokiteśvara, one will immediately be transformed into a loving heart. If one comes near to being killed, when one is under the power of Yama, if one remembers Avalokiteśvara, that one's weapons will be broken into pieces. If one is bound around the abdomen or shackled with fetters made of wood or iron, if one remembers Avalokiteśvara, those bonds will quickly be loosened. Mantras, medicines, powers, and vidyā-mantras, corpses, and spirits destroying the body, if one remembers Avalokiteśvara, one will go wherever one is thrown. Yakshas, asuras, powerful nāgas blazing with flames, completely surround one by stealing radiance."
