Eliminating attachment and so on, not clinging to the body and not desiring, etc., abiding in the mindfulness of the body through the common vehicle. Cultivating practice free from the concepts of both purity and impurity of the body, or whatever conceptual thoughts of purity and impurity, etc., arise, looking at their own nature, realizing that both purity and impurity are without self-nature and are emptiness, is mindfulness of the body. From this analogy, one can understand the principles of the common vehicle and the principles of Mahamudra. Here, mainly through the union of generation and completion, the inseparability of appearance and emptiness, the method of progressing on the path is explained: Remembering oneself as the body of the Great Compassionate One, the appearance of emptiness inseparable, like an illusion, is mindfulness of the body. Knowing all feelings of pleasure, pain, and equanimity as Avalokiteshvara of the Ratna family, or carrying whatever realization of feeling arises into the sphere of the empty heart, is mindfulness of feeling. The nature of mind is free from existence, non-existence, arising, and ceasing, and that itself appears as the face of the deity. The deity and mind being inseparable is mindfulness of mind. All phenomena of samsara and nirvana are not established as other than mind. Mind is also merely imputed and not established as real. Although it is not real, it appears as the body of the deity, which is mindfulness of phenomena. In short, the body and feelings are the nature of the deity, and the mind and phenomena are focused on the union of appearance and emptiness. Then, on the paths of accumulation and preparation, from the perspective of the union of generation and completion, with the generation stage being more dominant, practicing the not-so-profound completion stage with the instructions of the five wheels, one sees various realms of the six realms in reality, experience, and dreams, and actually feels suffering and frustration, as well as feelings of hunger and thirst, busyness and depression, pride, and experiences corresponding to the six realms. At this time, focusing on the purification of the seeds of the six realms as the key, merely the suffering of experience and the suffering of dreams will purify all the bad karma that will cause future rebirth in the six realms. From this point, the generation stage becomes slightly clearer and more stable. The object of meditation here is the four correct abandonments. That is, now, with the mind abiding single-pointedly in vipashyana as the illusory body of the deity, unwholesome dharmas that have not arisen will not arise. Thus, unwholesome dharmas arise.

Thus, it is abandoned. Those virtuous dharmas that have not arisen are generated by that samadhi; those that have arisen increase and do not diminish. The generation stage is also complete. Furthermore, by meditating on all appearances as the illusory form of the deity, the first correct abandonment is achieved, which is the abandonment of non-virtuous thoughts. By knowing that all appearances lack the nature of illusion, the second correct abandonment is achieved, which is the abandonment of all afflictions. For the sake of attaining Buddhahood, generating aspiration for virtue and focusing the mind on the generation and completion stages is the third correct abandonment. In order to prevent the waste of virtuous roots, dedicating them to enlightenment with the purity of the three spheres is the fourth correct abandonment. Thus it is said. Furthermore, laziness and the coarse experiences caused by faults occur in inferior individuals; in intermediate individuals, faults and virtues arise mixed together; in superior individuals, only faultless qualities manifest. Thus it is said. Thereafter, various good experiences of bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality arise, as well as the joyful experience of hearing pleasant sounds. One thinks that all phenomena, samsara, and nirvana appear as the mandala of deities. Sleep decreases, prophecies are received in dreams, and experiences similar to direct perception in dreams occur. One thinks of knowing the three doors of others, and sometimes drops appear, sometimes they do not, in various ways. One thinks of seeing gods and demons, and thinks of being able to summon, command, and order them. In the completion stage, one sees the ten signs such as smoke and mirages. Some of the activities undertaken are successful, and some are not, which is merely a preliminary sign of the stability of the generation stage. At this time, if one assumes that one can destroy demons and obstacles with the pride of wrathful deities, or if one holds a strong pride of power, it is a wrong path. Those abilities are also not permanent; they only appear temporarily. At this time, the object of meditation is the four legs of miraculous power: the leg of miraculous power of aspiration, which is the aspiration for the generation and completion stages without distraction; the leg of miraculous power of effort, which is practicing those generation and completion stages by abandoning laziness; the leg of miraculous power of conduct, which is acting within the state of those generation and completion stages and abandoning all unfavorable aspects; and the leg of miraculous power of mind, which is focusing the mind on those generation and completion stages. Thus, the three of peak one-pointedness (superior, intermediate, and inferior) and the three of the accumulation path are considered to be of the same meaning. Glingre said: Four, three...
