Thus, visualize oneself as a deity, and generate a slight amount of subtle pride. It is said. To subdue with power, one should abide in the four great prides. It is said, one should ascertain oneself as the body of a deity and generate pride. One needs clarity of form, purity of mindfulness, and stability of pride, but the most important is the stability of pride. The wise and accomplished ones of the past also considered the stability of pride to be very important, because the fundamental purpose of the generation stage is to dispel ordinary appearances and generate the appearance of a deity. If pride is not stable, one cannot dispel ordinary appearances. Moreover,神通 powers mostly arise from the stability of pride alone. Therefore, the necessity and benefits of meditating on the body of a deity are twofold: common and specific. First, the common benefit of meditating on the yidam deity is stated in the great tantra of the Vajra Tent: "Whatever one meditates on all the Buddhas, even if one does not attain enlightenment, one will be born in the position of a universal monarch, and will be born there lifetime after lifetime. Or one will become the lord of the earth, manifestly go to a pure place, the wise will be born in Tushita heaven, and in happy places such as the city of the sky. Whatever is accomplished in this very life, what need is there to mention Buddhahood? It is the greatest among the three realms, there is no difference between death and joy. Like Indra and Brahma, it is famous. Vishnu, Agni, and Vayu, the desire gods and the skull-holders, these will become his servants. Gods, nagas, as well as yakshas, gandharvas, as well as asuras and humans, kinnaras and those who travel in the sky, all these are undoubtedly his retinue. This is the self-born Bhagavan, who skillfully turns the wheel of Dharma. Birth and enlightenment, likewise he manifests going to the heavenly realm. Being born from the womb is also a manifestation, as well as how to practice austerities, fully taking birth, and also manifesting nirvana. Having skillfully tamed the world, therefore he manifests in many forms. In order to guide sentient beings, the Buddha dances with the dance of the Buddha, like a lion of rabbits, and elephants and other lineages, also with a compassionate and beneficial mind, one takes birth by the accomplishment of mudras. With the play of illusory women, he expounds the excellent Dharma to those with desire. Illusory women become Buddhas.
