I cause obstacles everywhere. The one with a single topknot, and sixty billion retinues, cause obstacles to the mantras spoken by Brahma, Vishnu, the sun, the moon, and the wind gods. The race of weasels, numbering trillions of billions, whose leader arises from the topknot, causes obstacles to the vidya-mantra of Vajrapani. The race that relies on the five pleasures causes obstacles to mantras. The secret son of wealth-enjoyment causes obstacles to his own mantra lineage. Thus, each of their own races causes obstacles to the mantra lineage. They transform into deities of secret mantra and receive tormas. When the gods see what the obstacles have done, they become displeased and angry, and return. These obstacles cannot be averted even by the gods of gods, nagas, and the Thirty-Three, because there is no ritual for offerings, no fire offering for recitation, and when the mind is distracted, thinking about what recitation has been done, those obstacles enter. Similarly, whatever actions are done, such as fire offerings, obstacles enter individually. When obstacles enter, great desire arises. The obstacle called "Shaking" enters during bathing, causing hunger, thirst, excessive sleep, heaviness of body, and anger. The obstacle called "Gandharva" enters during incense offerings, causing thoughts of country, king, relatives, and wealth, and becoming obsessed with women. The black-bodied one rises from the ground and enters during incense offerings, causing stinginess, deceit, great desire, ferocity, and seminal discharge. When offering lamps, the one with a single topknot enters, causing heat in the chest, pain in the joints, and mental distress. When getting up, the one with a topknot enters, causing severe epidemics, diarrhea, and vomiting. When offering flowers, the one with blooming flowers enters, causing epidemics, colds to spread, sickness, and separation from friends. Thus, when obstacles enter, one sees the wrong path as the right path, intoxicates the mind with great desire, and commits various misdeeds. Suddenly speaking nonsense, wandering aimlessly, and doubting and hesitating about meaningful practice. The mind develops wrong views, and one babbles and speaks meaningless words. Thus, one remains in laziness without any fruitful result. Furthermore, when Daṇḍapāṇi asked, the signs of obstacle entry were spoken, such as the tips of fingernails breaking, being frightened by hailstones, etc.
