The method of practice is: From emptiness, from the letter (Tibetan: པཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: प, Sanskrit Romanization: paṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Bang) arises the center of an eight-petaled lotus, and on the petals are nine moon cushions. In the center of these, from the letter (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) arises an Utpala flower marked with the letter (Tibetan: ཏྭཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: त्वा, Sanskrit Romanization: tvāṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Tvam). On the eight petals, from the east to the four directions are (Tibetan: ༀ་ཏཱ་རེ་ཏུཏ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ तारे तुत्त, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ tāre tutta, Chinese literal meaning: Om Tare Tutta), and from the southeast to the four corners are Tare Ture, all transformed. In the center is the noble Tara, and in the directions and corners are Taras who protect from the eight fears, such as lions. Meditate on the main deity and retinue, all adorned with ornaments and attire, like the Sengdeng Forest Tara. Then, the main deity recites the ten-syllable mantra, and the retinue recites: Om Om Svaha, Om Ta Svaha, Om Re Svaha, Om Tut Svaha, Om Ta Svaha, Om Re Svaha, Om Tu Svaha, Om Re Svaha. Reciting this is the practice of Tara protecting from the eight fears. Furthermore, from emptiness, from the red letter A arises a red lotus, and on the lotus, from the white letter (Tibetan: ཏཱཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ता, Sanskrit Romanization: tāṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Tam) arises a skull cup. In the skull cup, on the sun, from the letter (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) arises a curved knife, marked with the letter (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum). Visualize the Chinese Tara, black in color, with one face and three eyes, rolling her tongue and baring her teeth. In her four hands, the two right hands hold a sword and a curved knife, and the two left hands hold an Utpala flower and a skull cup. She is adorned with five bone ornaments and a garland of human heads, entwined with eight nagas, wearing a tiger skin skirt, and her hair is a reddish-yellow or brown topknot. She is short and stout, with a large belly, sitting on a corpse seat in a posture with her left leg extended. The ornament on her head is Akshobhya. The hand holding the sword holds a rosary of human bones, and recites (Tibetan: པཱིཏྲ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ, Sanskrit Devanagari: पीत्र हुं फट्, Sanskrit Romanization: pītra hūṃ phaṭ, Chinese literal meaning: Pītra Hum Phat). This is the practice of the Chinese Sequential Tara. Furthermore, through the ritual just described, visualize the Great Chinese Tara and recite the mantra. This is the practice of the Great Chinese Sequential Tara, composed by Constant Vajra. Furthermore, from emptiness, from the letter (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) arises Mount Sumeru, from the letter (Tibetan: པཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: प, Sanskrit Romanization: paṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Pam) arises a lotus, and from the letter A arises a moon. On the moon, from the white letter (Tibetan: ཏཱཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ता, Sanskrit Romanization: tāṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Tam) arises White Tara, with one face and three eyes. In her four hands, the first two form the Utpala mudra, and the latter two hold the wish-fulfilling jewel of generosity and an Utpala flower. On the right is the radiant yellow Light Ray Mother, holding a fly-whisk in her right hand and a branch of the Ashoka tree in her left hand. On the left is the Great Peacock Mother, holding a fly-whisk in her right hand and a peacock tail feather in her left hand, adorned with jewels and wearing silk.
