It is good if only putting a flower on the head is accomplished. If there are many, just scattering flowers is enough. Since no empowerment substances are needed, this is the entrustment of wisdom of mantra. It is called the subsequent permission of wisdom entrustment. Thus, no matter which extensive or concise subsequent permission is obtained, the empowerment lineage is definitely obtained. Therefore, when bestowing the subsequent permission to others, it is permissible to bestow whichever extensive or concise one is desired. This is the practice of the New Schools. However, for treasures, even if an extensive empowerment is obtained, it is not permissible to bestow intermediate and concise empowerments. If a concise empowerment is obtained, how can one bestow extensive and intermediate ones? Because there is no tradition of mixing what is obtained with other kinds. Why is that? Because it is the meaning of what was said that the words of Orgyen (Padmasambhava) are not permissible to be altered. Then, what is the reason why the New Schools allow that? Because even for one Indian text, the lamas of each school make various extensive and concise modifications. However, there is not even one person who only recites the Indian text and only bestows empowerment according to the Indian text itself. It is said that the reason for that is that the Indian text is not clear and the practice is not convenient. These empowerments are not the complete four empowerments and not extensive empowerments, but only subsequent permissions. The meaning of saying subsequent permission is that it is subsequently permitted to meditate on the body deity itself. It is subsequently permitted to recite the mantra itself with speech. It is subsequently permitted to meditate on the mind deity itself, and thus to meditate on the samadhi of quiescence and insight. After obtaining these three subsequent permissions, if one practices in that way, the benefits arising from the respective sadhanas will arise. If one practices without obtaining subsequent permission, it is considered a perverse practice of mantra, and it is said that great sins arising from relying on the Dharma will occur. For mandala empowerments and complete four empowerments, etc., it is difficult to keep the vows, and it is also difficult to harmonize the object to be trained and the means of training when meditating on the deity of the generation stage. Obstacles and wrong paths will occur even in the completion stage, channels and winds, etc. Those who actually practice these as they are are also extremely rare. Therefore, there are very many who only meditate on the deity and recite the mantra. Because the obstacles are small, the faults are few, and one goes on the path of Dharma, the benefit is extremely great. Therefore, this subsequent permission compiled by Lotsawa Chökyong Sangpo (Dharma Protector Good) is authentic because it does not follow the practice of Indian texts. Situ Chökyi

This set (of practices) is the famous extensive practice of the Bari tradition. This one composed by Jey Könchok Yönlak is the condensed practice of the Bari tradition. If speed is needed, there will be shortcomings. This one composed by Jey Wangchuk Dorje is suitable for worldly empowerments, etc., with appropriate amounts and great blessings. It is necessary to receive the lineage of empowerment for all four of these, and one can practice according to the circumstances. These were not composed by ordinary people, but were compiled by great Bodhisattvas of qualified monastic seats, so one should have faith. Also, the support for the front generation, as well as the arrangement of colored powders and tormas, or the number of empowerments performed each day, can be arranged individually, or if the location is changed, even one is sufficient. Also, the order of the deities is such that the virtuous spiritual friends of the past did not distinguish the order of the tantras, and Lord Atisha said, "Because Tibet has poor hygiene, the Kriya and Charya tantras will not be accomplished; because of strong conceptualization, the Anuttara tantra will not be accomplished; this Yoga tantra seems beneficial." Therefore, there are four ways to practice the Kriya tantra: practicing the Kriya tantra as its own independent system, practicing the Kriya tantra as the Charya tantra, practicing the Kriya tantra as the Yoga tantra, and practicing the Kriya tantra as the Anuttara tantra. Although this is mostly the Kriya tantra, it is practiced as the Yoga tantra without distinguishing the divisions of the tantras. Not distinguishing the divisions of the tantras is also the meaning of that. There are also many differences in the order, but it is related to having the Lord of the Teachings, Shakyamuni Buddha, as the first. So, how I (bdag) received the empowerment lineage of Ra ga A sya is as follows: In the past, from a lama who was a provider of offerings for Sakya Tsedrungpa, this one compiled by Lotsawa Chökyong Zangpo seems to have been completely received by Karma Donyö. It is said that he combined the two hundred and fifty deities into one class, and at the time of realization, he meditated on self and front as complete, and then performed empowerments with vases, etc. I received it once from him when I was young. Later, when I was about twenty-six or twenty-seven years old, I was not satisfied because I had not performed the empowerment practice, so that Sakya lama was the provider of offerings for the Tsedrung government, so the mantra of...
