Etc. should be done. Offerings and praises should be made, and by touching with the hands and reciting the encircling (mantra), one should protect it. Third, regarding the size of the mandala, there are two aspects: the determination of the size and the non-determination of the size. The first is divided into two: determining the size from the perspective of the deity and determining the size from the perspective of the patron. The first is, as stated in the second chapter of the Tent Tantra: "The Vajradhara's (mandala) is three cubits, the Buddha's mandala is four cubits, five cubits is for yoga, the Garwang Phyuk's is six cubits, the Horse King's is seven cubits," and so on. The second is determining the size from the perspective of the patron, as stated in the Vajra Peak Tantra: "Do not exceed one fathom (Sanskrit: vyāma), and do not be smaller than six cubits." And the scripture quoted in the Garland Tantra: "The lord of Jambudvipa, the Chakravartin king, at the end of one fathom in all directions, should draw the outer mandala." Etc. Second, regarding the meaning of the non-determination of the size, as stated in the Four Hundred and Fifty Verses: "Relying on the merit of sentient beings, the size and other things are determined, but what is the use of determining the size and other things for the accomplishments arising from skillful means and wisdom? Starting from one cubit, up to a thousand cubits can be made. In this way, draw the wheel with lines." Therefore, for the mandala practiced with conceptual thought, do not think that it is only this big, because in the order of other tantras, the size of a mustard seed or the body cannot be denied, and it is also said to be equal to the world. In the Joyful Endurance, it says: "Therefore, in order to obtain more or logically (mandala)." Fourth, regarding how to draw, there are three aspects: the order of the lines, the way the drawer acts, and the actual drawing of the lines. First, if you want to know the order of drawing the action line or the wisdom line first, as stated in the Vajra Dakini Tantra: "First draw the wisdom line, then begin to perform the action." And in the Compendium of Sutras it says: "The wise should first draw a line in the sky, and likewise, draw a line well below." Following these statements, first bless the ground wisdom line, and then divide the action line. Some, however, follow the practices of Sarahaha, Black Practitioner, Invincible Moon, Precious Vajra, Bhava Bhatta, Infallible Detail, etc., and draw the action line first.

It is said that it is only for the sake of blessing, to establish following the traces of wisdom. However, in all qualified tantras and commentaries, both methods are explained, so one should do as one pleases. Secondly, regarding the method of how the establisher acts, it is said in the 'Nine Crests': "Abiding in the boundary of being free from truth, entrust it to the hand of a Dharma friend." Having done so, it is said in the 'Vajra Dakini': "Halve the hand's thread, with the left hand's vajra fist, holding the thread at the navel, truly begin to establish the line." And, in the 'Vinaya Source', it is said: "By reciting the three syllables JA, with the left hand's fist at the navel." As it is said, one should hold the thread at the navel with one's own left hand's vajra fist. To the Dharma friend, one should release and draw the line by saying "JJA CA JJA" or by reciting two stacked JA syllables and three single JA syllables in a rosary, etc., as it is explained. Then, the order of establishing the eight great lines is, in the 'Tent' and the 'Vinaya Source', it is said: "Establish the Brahma line, the corner line, and the root line in order." In the 'Tent', it is said: "The first is the Brahma line, the second is the corner line, the third on the four faces, the line should be well established." As it is said, most people such as Abhaya approve of this order. After the Brahma line, establish the root line, then establish the corner line, Nagarjuna, Dipamkarashrijnana, Bhavabhatta, Nyiung, etc. also approve of this. Some people think that this order should not be understood by distinguishing between father and mother tantras. Abhaya says in the 'Garland' that the former method is common to both tantras, and the latter is considered the father tantra method, which Bhavabhatta and Nyiung have explained in the mandala rituals of both the 'Vajra Dakini' and the 'Hevajra'. Regarding the Brahma line, Saraha, Krishnacharya Vibhuti, etc. first establish the north-south Brahma line and then establish the east-west line, while others mentioned earlier first establish the east-west line. Regarding the corner line, as Abhaya said, the second is established after the fire-wind corner line, and others also approve of this. Regarding the order of the four root lines, as Abhaya said, they are established in the order of east, west, north, and south, Dipamkarashrijnana, Darikapada, Lanka, etc. approve of this, while Nagarjuna and Krishnacharya follow the order of east, south, west, north, and Lavapa follows the order of east, west, south, north...
