Regarding oral transmissions and practical instructions, without thoroughly analyzing what is not mastered, one does not merely remain at the level of knowing the year of learning and the year of obtaining. In any practice, without signs appearing in dreams, one does not abandon it by saying the count is complete. Regarding the practice sections of tantras and Indian treatises, one values them and thoroughly analyzes them, striving for precision. Merely obtaining empowerment transmissions and rituals, one does not practice them and regard them as deities. Regarding the obtained empowerment transmissions, without examining whether the lineage is pure and whether the practice is correct, one does not merely settle for hearing. For previously obtained teachings, one searches for their examples, establishes the teachings for oneself, and without gaining a little certainty, one does not abandon them by being satisfied with what was previously obtained. Thus, one exerts effort oneself and also encourages others to act in this way and praises them. Wishing that all beings may abide in diligence, this is the seventh chapter related to the perfection of diligence. Even if one makes effort in diligence in this way, if one does not meditate on contemplation within, one cannot suppress the three poisons of affliction. Therefore, the Buddha taught that one should then meditate on contemplation. Although there are many explanations of contemplation, most of the practices are included within contemplation. As shown above, cultivating loving-kindness is like the seed of enlightenment receiving water and fertilizer, and the fruit is abundant. Therefore, one should cultivate compassion. Compassion also has three aspects: compassion focused on beings, compassion focused on phenomena, and compassion without focus. The first to be cultivated is compassion focused on beings, all beings are one's parents. Some are tormented in hell, unable to bear it; some are hungry ghosts, with hunger and thirst like fire; some are animals, in darkness, foolish and ignorant. Generating compassion for all these beings, transforming the cause of all their suffering into oneself, one should strongly contemplate that all beings are free from all suffering. Thus, if one does not cultivate cherishing others more than oneself, it is said that there is no way to attain Buddhahood. It is not enough to merely exchange in the mind in this way; one must actually realize it. Therefore, even though actually exchanging oneself with others is difficult, for some patients, those possessed by spirits, or those influenced by evil spirits, one should practice in this way.

When a patient is ill, Sharing the suffering with the patient, starting from my own illness, many patients have been liberated from their illnesses. When tormented by madness and other evil spirits, although it benefits the patient, the evil spirits retaliate. Even foreseeing that I would have disasters and scolding, I knowingly did many such things. When resisting storms and hailstorms and other disasters, even if it caused harm to myself, I endured it and did it with an altruistic mind. In the past, when holding many rituals in villages, even if some wealthy and powerful patrons said: "You must respect us first," I valued those who were humble and poor. At that time, even if the powerful and wealthy, showed displeasure, I endured it. When giving empowerments and transmissions to those who wanted to practice close retreats, yidams, and dharma protectors, even if it was harmful to myself and the dharma protectors were displeased, I endured it because it greatly benefited others. It would be good to do a life-length retreat for myself, but for the benefit of empowerments, transmissions, and the three benefits of the Dharma, etc., for the benefit of others, I also did retreats for several years. When observing whether it was appropriate to organize a Ganachakra (feast gathering), (the master) said, "Even if organizing a Ganachakra will harm your life, it will bring immeasurable benefits to others," "If the benefits are great, I can endure even if my life is shortened," thinking this, I organized the Ganachakra with an altruistic mind. Sometimes, involuntarily towards sentient beings, tears welled up due to compassion, and sometimes during Phowa (transference of consciousness), due to intense compassion, even if (compassion) arose, it was of no avail, and tears still welled up. Regarding the way compassion arises with the Dharma as its object, although everything in the environment and beings, and the happiness and suffering of sentient beings, etc., are explained in various ways, their essence is emptiness, for example, like seeing the moon in the water. Alas! Like this, all phenomena have no substance, existing like illusions and dreams, yet not understanding, these beings who grasp at the various happiness and suffering of self and others, are pointlessly deluded, suffering immeasurable pain, I feel compassion for them as if they were mad. That unconditioned, genuine compassion, although it is the domain of the great saints, but in practice, without separating from the essence of emptiness, meditating on compassion for all sentient beings, is called having the essence of emptiness and compassion. This is understood to be the unsurpassed path to enlightenment, therefore, I repeatedly practice it, this is (my) heart.
