Moreover, because there is no detachment from joy, there is no mental happiness. If bodily happiness is also kept in equilibrium, it will not become a limb of dhyana. Because if it occurs in the realm of the five sense consciousnesses, then its nature is distracted, so it will not occur in a state of equilibrium. Furthermore, the happiness of the third dhyana will not become another substance, because it has already been counted in the first dhyana. And if it is counted there, but still counted as another substance, then the happiness of the second dhyana would also be considered another substance. If you say that, there is no fault. The happiness of the third dhyana is mental happiness (because it is a feeling), while in the first and second dhyanas, happiness is said to be the mind of many virtuous grounds that is very tamed. In the first two dhyanas, there cannot be a feeling of happiness, because there are only two kinds of feelings of happiness, bodily and mental. Among them, it is not a bodily feeling, because there is no collection of five consciousnesses in meditative absorption. Nor is it a mental feeling, because the limb "joy" has already been counted, and joy is mental happiness, so it is impossible for joy and happiness to occur simultaneously. It is also unreasonable for these two to be limbs of different names, because the five limbs are said to occur in one collection, which is the view of the Vaibhashikas. To illustrate, someone says that in the Vibhasha Shastra, the Sutrantikas say that according to the views of the Abhidharmikas, just like drawing water with a bucket, eye consciousness and so on are drawn from the bottom to the top. Their intention is that eye consciousness and so on also exist in the realms of the second dhyana and so on. In the Sutra on Dhyana, it is also said that when teaching the third dhyana, it says, "He is detached from desire from joy, and abides in equanimity, mindfulness, and awareness, and experiences happiness in the body," so bodily happiness is not only in the realm of desire and the first dhyana, but also in the realms of the second and third dhyanas, so in all three dhyanas, only bodily happiness is a limb. If you say that. In the Sutra of the Collection of Paths, it says: What is the faculty of happiness? Answer: Touching with the touch that will experience happiness is bodily and arises from the mind.

If it is said that it contradicts the statement, "Whatever is the state of feeling that feels, that is, the arising of comfort and pleasure, is called the faculty of pleasure," it is not contradictory. Because in the treatises of all other sects, only the feeling of the body is mentioned, and "arising from the mind" is something that some have imposed. Moreover, the sutra also explicitly states, "Pleasure is experienced by the body." If it is said that it is "by the body of the mind," then it is not. If that were the case, it would be sufficient to say, "Pleasure is experienced by the mind," and there would be no need to say "by the body." Furthermore, if quiescence is referred to as pleasure in the first two dhyanas, then because quiescence is more excellent than the first two dhyanas, the limb of pleasure should also be mentioned in the fourth dhyana. But because it is not mentioned there, the feeling of pleasure is present in the first three dhyanas, so it is explained as a limb, but because the feeling of pleasure is not present in the fourth dhyana, it is not explained as a limb. If it is said that the quiescence of the first two dhyanas is in accordance with the feeling of pleasure, so it is called pleasure, but the quiescence of the fourth dhyana is not in accordance with the feeling of pleasure, so it is not called pleasure, then why is the quiescence of the third dhyana, which is in accordance with the feeling of pleasure, not called pleasure? If it is said that although it is in accordance with the feeling of pleasure, it is not called pleasure there because it is overcome by equanimity, which is characterized by being workable, then it is not so. Because the quiescence of the third dhyana is more excellent than the quiescence of the first two dhyanas, equanimity alone is sufficient to increase it. Furthermore, in the first two dhyanas, quiescence alone is not pleasure, as it is said in the Sutra Requested by Anathapindika: "When the noble sravaka dwells having manifestly realized and perfected the pleasure born of solitude with the body, at that time, the two mental pleasures that closely gather desire, and the three mental pleasures, displeasure, and equanimity that closely gather non-virtue, these five dharmas will be abandoned. And the five dharmas, namely, inner extreme delight, joy, quiescence, pleasure, and samadhi, will be completely cultivated." Because quiescence and pleasure are said to be different, and even if they are said not to be different, they cannot be five.
