Completing the unfinished part is to practice the samadhi that leads to a pleasant abiding in the present dharma. This is the first dhyana that transcends desire, so it is said that other contemplations are also a pleasant abiding in the present dharma. In the commentary of Gesar Khenpo, it is also said that if all dhyanas are a pleasant abiding in the present dharma, why does the sutra only mention the first dhyana? The yogi is because he has transcended the many faults of the desire realm, so its happiness can especially satisfy the mind, just like a tired and thirsty person in the wilderness is satisfied by muddy water. It is not certain that happiness will be experienced in the next life, because there is decline, (after abandoning it,) rebirth in the second dhyana, etc., and those who enter nirvana in the present dharma do not have the reason for a pleasant abiding in the next life, and because there is no vipaka for the uncontaminated. The divine eye clairvoyance that knows death and birth, and the consciousness and corresponding wisdom that follow it, are considered to be the practice of the samadhi that knows what is seen. Among the two, knowing birth and knowing what is seen, the former is knowing that these sentient beings have evil deeds of the body, etc., which is the consciousness and corresponding conceptual wisdom that arises after the eye consciousness. The latter is the eye consciousness and corresponding non-conceptual wisdom that takes the present form element as its object. Then, it is contradictory that the sutra says that the divine eye clairvoyance is the samadhi that knows what is seen, because clairvoyance is wisdom, and wisdom is not the practice of samadhi. This is because the fruit of samadhi is named after the cause of samadhi, just like saying that leg swelling is a foot disease. Some say, "There are six kinds of clairvoyance, which are liberating wisdom." Therefore, (clairvoyance) this is the samadhi included in the dhyana of the path of mental liberation, which is only meditative equipoise, so it is the real practice of samadhi, so there is no contradiction with the sutra. The commentators say that the former view is the view of the Abhidharma masters, who believe that clairvoyance is its own characteristic, and samadhi is a nominal term for mental cultivation.

According to the latter view, eye consciousness is samadhi, therefore it is explained as actually wanting to practice samadhi. The merits arising from application, included in the three realms, such as the impure, mindfulness of breathing in and out, without afflictions, knowledge from aspiration, individual correct knowledge, the first five superknowledges, contaminated liberation, subjugation, etc., the three doors of contaminated and uncontaminated liberation, transcendent absorption, and the exhaustion of outflows of superknowledge, etc., also possess samadhi equally, therefore they are named with the name of samadhi, becoming samadhi that can thoroughly distinguish wisdom. Because of the power of samadhi, it becomes more and more excellent, thereby making the wisdom that can thoroughly distinguish the Dharma particularly superior. The vajra-like samadhi included in the four extremes of meditation is what causes all defilements to cease completely, therefore it is called practicing samadhi that causes all defilements to cease. (Although the vajra samadhi that relies on other grounds is also the same), the difference of these four samadhis is that the Bhagavan spoke according to how they arose in his own mind. For example, in order to observe the ultimate end of karma, when he went to the village of the farmers, he generated the first dhyana under the Jambudvipa tree. Then, under the Bodhi tree, in the first session, after subduing the Maras of the sons of the gods, he observed the death and birth of sentient beings with the divine eye. Then, in order to protect them, in the midday session, he generated dhyana, liberation, and samapatti. After that, in the third session, relying on the fourth dhyana, he generated the vajra-like samadhi, thereby abandoning all bonds, all of which are, in order, the practice of samadhi that becomes dwelling in bliss in the present life. Therefore, it is believed that only four samadhis were taught. First, explaining the formless meditations.
