The remaining four (meditative states) are solely virtuous. (This is because they are the path of liberation encompassed by meditative concentration.) Then, in the Differentiation Treatise, what does it mean when it says, "What is supernormal knowledge? Wisdom is virtuous"? This is because supernormal knowledge is primarily virtuous, or it is said that way considering that most supernormal knowledge is virtuous. For example, just as there are Mon-sran beans and so on, but most Mon-sran beans are referred to as its heap. Among these six supernormal knowledges, the latter three are called the three non-learning knowledges. Why are only these three knowledges, and not the first three? Because these three dispel the ignorance that obscures the past extreme, and the ignorance that obscures the future and intermediate extremes, which are encompassed by "etc." In this regard, fortunate and special individuals, etc., in the context of the supernormal knowledge of the exhaustion of defilements, the sutra says, "From this, one will not know other existences," and in accordance with the order of past, present, and future times, through the knowledge of past lives, the knowledge of death and rebirth, and the knowledge of the exhaustion of defilements, one dispels the ignorance that obscures the past, intermediate, and future extremes, respectively. Although it is explained in this way, the first teacher, Bhadanta, sees the decline of himself and others, the intermediate one sees the decline of others and generates aversion, and thus, the third one realizes the true meaning through the three faults. Therefore, these three dispel the ignorance that obscures the past, future, and intermediate present, respectively. This explanation is reasonable. The commentary says, "The direct realization of the knowledge of past lives, death, and birth, and the knowledge of the exhaustion of defilements, these are called the three non-learning knowledges." After saying this, "These dispel the ignorance that obscures the past, future, and intermediate extremes, respectively." Because of this, it is evident that the teacher's intention is also the same, as explained by the prince. Only these three supernormal knowledges are the three knowledges, as the sutra also says, "There are three non-learning knowledges: the non-learning knowledge of the recollection of past lives, the non-learning knowledge of death and rebirth.

And, the wisdom that realizes the exhaustion of outflows of the non-learner is called the third basket. Because it is also said to be the third wisdom, from these three, what is truly both a non-learner and their wisdom is without outflows, so the last is only the direct knowledge of the exhaustion of outflows. The first two are called the wisdom of the non-learner because they arise in the continuum of the non-learner, but in reality, those two are with outflows, neither a learner nor a non-learner, so they are not non-learners. If these direct knowledges also exist in learners, why are they not called the wisdom of learners? It is accepted that these direct knowledges also exist in learners, but they are not spoken of as wisdom. Why? Because the continuum is overwhelmed by ignorance, and (when arising, it is what is abandoned by meditation) because it is together with ignorance, it is not suitable to be called wisdom. (Liberation is not spoken of when bound.) Furthermore, in the fourth of the six aggregates, the Sutra of Four Touches, in the advice to the many renunciate monks with disheveled hair, three kinds of miracles are spoken of: the miracle of magical power, the miracle of communication, and the miracle of instruction. Among these, the first of the six superknowledges, the direct knowledge of knowing the realm of magical power, the third, the direct knowledge of knowing the varieties of minds, and the sixth, the direct knowledge of the exhaustion of outflows, are respectively the miracles of magical power, of communicating "your mind is like this," and of showing the correct path as it is, so they are the miracles of instruction. Why are they called miracles? Because at first they captivate the minds of other beings to be tamed, it is the meaning of "hara." Among these, the first captivates the minds of others from the perspective of desire, the second captivates the mind from the perspective of knowing the thoughts of others and then teaching the Dharma, and the third captivates the mind from the perspective of maturing and liberating through practicing according to the teachings. Or, do these respectively captivate the minds of those who doubt the teachings, those who are in an intermediate state, and those who have already entered? Or, do they captivate the minds of those who desire, those who enter, and those who have already entered? Among these three miracles, the miracle of instruction.
