From the end of... it says, "The faculties and the powers, the factors of determination are two each." Therefore, according to the order stated in the sutras for the seven groups, one should cultivate in sequence in the small, medium, and large accumulation paths, the heat, peak, forbearance, supreme qualities, the path of seeing, and the path of cultivation. This is considered to be an easy path to enter.\ Third, which are in accordance with enlightenment, which are with outflows and which are without outflows, and on what grounds are they? The seven branches of enlightenment and the eightfold noble path are without outflows, because they are included in the three paths of seeing, cultivation, and no more learning, through the special states (seeing and cultivation) and the non-special states (no more learning). Other than those, from mindfulness to the powers, they are of two kinds, with outflows and without outflows, through special states and non-special states. Those that exist in the continuum of ordinary beings, included in the path of joining, are with outflows; those that exist in the continuum of noble beings, included in the three paths, are without outflows. The grounds are: in the first dhyana, all thirty-seven factors are present; in the near attainment of the first dhyana, without the possibility of falling back, there are thirty-six factors, excluding the joy of perfect enlightenment, because it is easily attained, and joy arises without doubt, while near attainment needs to be generated by the power of effort, and because there is doubt of decline to a lower ground, and because it is a feeling of equanimity.\ In the second dhyana, there are thirty-six factors excluding right thought, because right thought is thought, and in the second dhyana, thought has already been abandoned. In the third and fourth dhyanas, there are thirty-five factors excluding joy and thought, because thought has already subsided and because it is free from attachment to joy (and because it is a ground beyond that). In the main state of the first dhyana and the intermediate state of the second, and in the main state of the first dhyana, in the special state, there are thirty-five factors excluding thought and joy, because thought has been abandoned and it is a ground of equanimity. In the first three of the formless realms, such as limitless space,
