Obtaining (freedom from desire) is the only way to enter the stages of once-returner and non-returner, not the reason for entering the stages of stream-enterer and once-returner. Third, when explaining the special dharmas, there are seven special features: the special features of grounds and paths, the special features of knowing cessation and non-arising, the special features of the establishment of fruition, the special features of the wheel of dharma, the special features of realms and distinctions, the special features of lineage and decline, and the special features of the transformation of faculties. First, if the noble ones are separated from desire from various grounds, then with what antidote and from which ground do they separate from desire? Thus, the path of cultivation is divided into two types: mundane and supramundane. Only the supramundane path can separate from desire from the peak of existence, because the lower ground is inferior and there is no higher ground, and it cannot become an antidote itself (i.e., its afflictions will increase), so it is not the mundane path. If it were the mundane path, then it should be liberated from the beginning. From all the grounds other than the peak of existence (the eight grounds), one can separate from desire as appropriate through both mundane and supramundane paths. The mundane path is the preparatory practice of the higher ground, and the supramundane path is the path of seeing and the path of cultivation of one's own ground and the lower ground, which has the aspect of truth. (In the difference of abandonment and attainment) For the noble one who has separated from desire through the mundane path of practicing calm abiding, (for each) attainment of abandonment, both the mundane and supramundane paths will arise, just like a child, once abandoned, will not return. (This is also because abandoning afflictions is one thing.) Some schools believe that the supramundane path can also lead to both contaminated and uncontaminated attainments of abandonment (similar to before). If it does not lead to the mundane attainment of abandonment, then previously, when a non-returner with dull faculties who has separated from desire from the realm of nothingness through the supramundane path transforms into sharp faculties by relying on the mind of meditative concentration, because the previous path has been abandoned (cessation), and there is no mundane attainment of abandonment, then they will be associated with the afflictions of the higher grounds (the eight grounds) such as infinite space (because they have not abandoned and realized the uncontaminated).

because it abandons the contaminated. Therefore) such a noble being abandons the supramundane separation attainment, and because it does not possess higher afflictions, it is said to have the mundane separation attainment. The refutation is unchangeable. For example, according to your own view, the supramundane path can attain half of the peak of existence, that is, the noble non-returner who is liberated from the eighth affliction downwards, the dull-witted person who relies on meditation to transfer the faculties, because there is no mundane path to counteract the peak of existence, there is no mundane separation attainment. The supramundane separation attainment is also abandoned by relying on meditation to transfer the faculties, so both separation attainments are absent, just as you believe that you do not possess the afflictions of the peak of existence. Again, for example, for children born above the first dhyana, such as in the second dhyana, the virtue belonging to the dhyana is, as the sutra says, "abandoned by those who move and degenerate from the ground," and the two separation attainments that have abandoned the desire realm afflictions (if abandoned by moving the place of birth), there is also no desire realm affliction, just as (here also there is no upper affliction), this is the second example of harm. Here, the noble being uses the supramundane path to be separated from desire in the formless realm, and those who rely on meditation to transfer their faculties do not possess higher afflictions because they have abandoned the seed. And those born in the first dhyana, etc., do not possess lower afflictions such as desire because, although there is a seed, the conditions for manifestation are not complete, but not because they possess the attainment of separation, the Sutra School, etc., think so. (The noble being abandons the contaminated separation attainment by moving the ground, but if there is no uncontaminated, he will not abandon the attainment of the fruit and the practice of degeneration for no reason.) Then, which ground separates from the desire of which ground? In this regard, the approximation of the uncontaminated first dhyana has no inability, because it is powerful, (than the upper ground) it can also separate from the desire of the lower ground, so it can separate from the desire of all nine grounds. (The lower ground is the desire realm, and for the desire realm, there is no other antidote than the contaminated and uncontaminated, and for other grounds, there are other antidotes.) If relying on approximation
