The Pratyekabuddha (path) is free from eight faults, so the samadhi is unwavering, and because the faculties are sharp, it is clear, and because of diligent practice, it is in accordance with the decisive part, that is, from the impure onwards, until the path of enlightenment and the knowledge of the end of birth and death, all rely on the fourth limit of meditation, and only cultivate on one seat. Therefore, since there is no interruption (there, inconsistent knowledge does not arise, and one's own fruit is obtained immediately, so there is no laziness), it is impossible to transform into another lineage (lower vehicle), so says the Vaibhashika. Therefore, the Shravaka is irreversible from the supreme Dharma, the Pratyekabuddha is like a rhinoceros horn, and the Buddha is irreversible from the path of joining or the path of accumulation. However, according to some Abhidharma masters, in addition to the Pratyekabuddha like a rhinoceros horn, there are also Pratyekabuddhas who gather and practice. According to these views, even if one obtains the heat and peak positions like a Shravaka, it is possible to transform from the Pratyekabuddha's lineage to a Buddha. Because the way of proceeding on that path is the same as that of the Shravaka. It is specifically pointed out that only the lineage like a rhinoceros horn cannot be transformed. Therefore, this is a Pratyekabuddha preceded by a Shravaka, that is, one who has previously generated a decisive part. Khenpo Gangshar explains it this way, and these are the views of the various schools. Mahayana practitioners explain it differently, but this is not the appropriate time here, so I will not elaborate. Then, how do we know the cause of the path of joining? Before the path of joining, there must be virtuous deeds that are in accordance with the part of liberation. Then, how long will it take to be liberated? The fastest is liberation from the three realms, just like planting seeds, sprouting, and the formation of fruit. The first arising is the part of liberation, the second is the decisive part, and the third is the fruit of the ascetic's conduct. The commentary also says: "This Dharma nature is entered gradually, fully matured, and becomes completely liberated." Among them, entering (maturing and liberating) and so on, are successively the part of liberation, the decisive part, and the noble path. This is also because of sharp faculties and diligence.

This is in terms of those who have the capacity, because it is uncertain for others. Therefore, for those who are very swift, having accumulated the collection of the virtues of liberation in the previous life, in (the subsequent life) in just one lifetime, they will generate the virtues of ascertainment and the noble path, it should be understood in this way. Regarding attaining liberation in two lifetimes, it is also explained in the 'Commentary of the Prince.' This is also mentioned many times in the scriptures. In reality, this is in accordance with 'seeing the truth,' so this statement is reasonable. In the Hearer's Ground, it is also explained in the same way as the former. The virtues of liberation arise from hearing and thinking, not from meditation, because that is the ground of distraction. Or, the meditation of non-Buddhists (the meditation of the merit aspect) cannot be the cause of liberation, because the inner path has not yet arisen. Virtue is also the three actions of the three doors with mind as the main thing. Its measure is uncertain. The commentary says, "Some, by giving just a little food, or by taking just a few precepts, can generate the power of desiring liberation, thus causing the virtues that are in accordance with liberation to arise." The teacher Gangpel also said, "For those who, from the depths of their hearts, renounce samsara (that is, the virtue of wanting to attain liberation is mainly mind, and the actions of body and speech initiated by the mind will also become the cause of liberation), and who have faith in nirvana, even a small amount of virtue arising from giving, discipline, hearing, and thinking can cause the virtues that are in accordance with liberation to arise, but the opposite of that, even a large amount of virtue cannot cause it to arise." The teacher Prince also said, "Even a small virtue, as long as it generates the power of desiring liberation, can cause the virtues that are in accordance with liberation to arise." The definition is that liberation is nirvana, and its part is the cause of attaining liberation, which is the virtues of ascertainment, and because it is beneficial to it, it is called that. This virtue can only be initially generated among the humans of the three continents, because the gods, although they have wisdom, have little renunciation, and the beings of the lower realms, although they have renunciation, their wisdom is not clear, and the non-gods have neither, so they cannot generate it. Then, the wisdom of equipoise of the path of application...
