Firstly, the first two (referring to the virtuous qualities belonging to meditative concentration, as stated in 'Those who have transferred their ground and declined, abandon'), ordinary beings completely decline, therefore they abandon; but for noble ones, there is no decline from these (adverse factors). (Because they abandon from having transferred from attainment.) The latter two, even ordinary beings do not decline (because they have not generated the path of the noble ones). If someone generates the factors of ascertainment by relying on actual meditative concentration, then they will see the truth in that very life, because they are more inclined to aversion. (The path of joining based on the invincible and special meditative concentration is not certain to see the truth in that very life, because it is possible to decline. Therefore, it is said that all actual paths of joining are definitely abandoned by the noble ones.) If previously (referring to inferior patience and below) attained (qualities) are declined, and then (later) attained again, then like the vows of individual liberation, it is newly attained (only) what was not there before, and it is not attaining what was attained in the past. Because previously (without generating the path of the noble ones) it was not repeatedly practiced, and (because it is not attained without detachment.) It must be accomplished with effort (therefore one cannot attain one's own ground previously). (If there is someone who sows anew with a single wisdom of aspiration, then it will arise from the interrupted point, but if not, it will arise from the root.) Then, what is the difference between complete decline and decline? There is no difference in that both declines are by nature lacking (dharma). However, complete decline refers to declining solely due to committing the fault of afflictions, like the decline of virtuous roots when wrong views arise; while decline refers to declining due to faults like the former (arising of wrong views), and also declining due to qualities, like the decline of ordinary beings when the path of seeing arises, or like abandoning the path of seeing when subsequent wisdom arises on the path, therefore decline is a general term. Therefore, complete decline is included in decline, but decline does not include complete decline (it exists, for example, when the sixteenth moment is attained, like the path of seeing), one should know that there is a difference between particular and general. Among them, attaining the heat (of virtue) is a complete decline, but it is definitely of the nature of tending towards nirvana, as well as the factors of liberation and the two

The special feature is that if there are no obstacles, then the Dharma is close to seeing the truth. (Because it is possible to see the truth in this life.) Those who have attained the peak position, even if they completely degenerate, their roots of virtue will not be completely cut off. (Because they have obtained unwavering faith in the Three Jewels, so there is a remaining refuge.) They may also fall into evil destinies, and even commit actions of immediate retribution. Those who have attained forbearance, even if they degenerate, will not fall into the three evil destinies, because they have abandoned the causes of falling into them—karma and afflictions. Thus, the three realms of existence, and by extension, the two places of birth arising from eggs and moisture, as well as unconscious beings, the unpleasant sound of the northern Kurus, and the Great Brahma, these three births, as well as Zama, Maning, and hermaphrodites, these three bodies, as well as the eighth bhumi and above, and the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing, namely existence, place of birth, birth, body, existence, and afflictions (because these have each obtained non-discrimination, therefore these) obtain the six dharmic natures of non-birth. Furthermore, with small and medium forbearance, one can obtain the result of not being born in evil destinies, and with great forbearance, one can obtain the dharmic nature of all non-birth, but fundamentally only not falling into evil destinies is mentioned. In general, there are three lineages, the first of which requires relying on a teacher for learning until the last existence, therefore, as disciples of the Hearer lineage, even those who have obtained the warm and peak positions may transform from Hearers into Buddhas, but after obtaining forbearance, it is impossible to transform into the Buddha lineage, because after obtaining forbearance, one will not fall into evil destinies, while Bodhisattvas fall into evil destinies for the benefit of others. The Hearer lineage itself, except for the most excellent Dharma, the other three can also transform from the Hearer lineage into solitary Buddhas, because they (mainly for their own benefit) will also not fall into evil destinies for the benefit of others. One will not transform from the most excellent Dharma into a solitary Buddha, because that is only a moment, and immediately after that, the path of seeing arises, therefore from that time on, the lineage is determined. The two lineages of solitary Buddhas and Buddhas cannot be transformed into others, just like the teacher Buddha and the rhinoceros.
