As for anger, it arises from the six objects, its aspect is inner turmoil, it does not abide in happiness, and it has the function of being the basis for evil deeds. View is definitely what is abandoned on the path of seeing, and although it is similar in the nature of cognition, its aspects and functions are different, so previously it was only distinguished from the perspective of name, but its own nature was not revealed, so their aspects and nature are, in general, all views that are based on contaminated things are views of the aggregates of destruction (afflictive). However, establishing a general name on the particular, this view with the aspect of self and what belongs to self is based on many impermanent objects, and regards them as self and what belongs to self. It is not based on the only permanent dharma desired by outsiders, therefore, based on many impermanent objects, this view that regards them as self and what belongs to self is shown as the view of the aggregates of destruction. Therefore, the sutra says: "Monks, whether they are ascetics or Brahmins, all those who properly observe 'there is a self' are only observing these five aggregates of grasping." Therefore, for the five aggregates of grasping that are destroyed moment by moment and composed of dust and many parts, based on many impermanent objects, the consciousness is regarded as the self that acts, and the other four aggregates are regarded as what belongs to the self that is controlled; or the four aggregates of name are regarded as the self, and the aggregate of form is regarded as what belongs to the self; and based on the very thing that appears to be the basis of attachment to the self, clinging to the extreme view of permanence or annihilation; because the object and aspect are reversed, and conceptual thoughts arise, therefore, all afflictive views are wrong views, and clinging to the annihilationist extreme is denial, but not clinging to the eternalist extreme is not denial, just as forcing a name, all ghee has a smell, but only the ghee with the strongest smell is called rancid ghee, this as a whole is denial, because it regards the four noble truths that exist as non-existent. The commentary says that holding views and so on as supreme should be said to be the reason why the word "etc." is hidden. Therefore, the first three views and so on, are the contaminated five aggregates of grasping, which are abandoned by the noble ones, therefore, based on inferior things, regarding happiness and purity etc. as supreme, main, particularly superior and sacred, and the great powerful one.

Such as considering the causes of creating the world, and serving the five fires, entering water, jumping off cliffs, etc., which are not causes for being born in higher realms, as causes for being born in higher realms, and considering the antidote to immorality—discipline, and rituals, conduct, and the actions of body and speech as indispensable asceticism, and knowledge of Samkhya and Yoga, etc., as the path of liberation that can purify the stains of sin, liberate from the bonds of afflictions, and surely liberate from samsara, rather than considering them as causes and paths, these are, in order, the view of the aggregates, the view of extremes, wrong view, view of holding views as supreme, and considering discipline, asceticism, and their basis, the aggregates, as pure, etc., among the five aggregates, etc. The commentary also says that the word "etc." is hidden, so merely asceticism is included in the aggregate of form, and it is not only attached to this, but also attached to other aggregates of grasping, so it is attached to discipline and asceticism, etc., so in this way, these are the five views. The actions of these five views are, in order, to serve as the basis for all evil views, to cut off the Middle Way of abandoning the extremes of permanence and annihilation and understanding dependent origination, to cut off roots of virtue and serve as the basis for clinging to non-virtue, to serve as the basis for manifest attachment to evil views by clinging to evil views as merits, and to serve as the basis for causes without results, as stated in other treatises. The causes for determining these five views are, as stated in the Compendium of Topics, the first is to impute self and what belongs to self to objects of knowledge where there is no self or what belongs to self, thus imputing essence; the second is to cling to them as permanent or annihilated, thus imputing distinctions to objects of knowledge, these two are imputations to objects of knowledge. The fourth is to impute the previous three inferior views as supreme, and the fifth is to impute what is not a means of eliminating these views as a supreme means, these two are imputations to views. The third is to slander most things. Thus, there are four views of imputation and one view of slander. The Compendium of Determinations says that for views

It is certain that there are two types of exaggeration and four types of denial. Exaggerations include: exaggerating that there is a self, exaggerating that it is permanent or impermanent, exaggerating that it is a means to attain higher realms, and exaggerating that it is a means to liberation. Denials are defined as five types of wrong views. Although this is mostly the case, in clinging, there is also some exaggeration of seeing non-causes as causes, as well as denial and wrong views. If one considers Ishvara and others as causes when they are not, and holds vows and asceticism as supreme, why is it not abandoned by the origin to be seen? Because the cause is the origin, and it is entering into it in a reversed way. If that is the case, wouldn't it only be abandoned by the suffering to be seen? If someone clings to Ishvara and the lord of beings as causes when they are not, then that is precisely what is to be abandoned by seeing suffering. Why? Because that view is thoroughly dominated by the reversed views of permanence and self. Therefore, that is also only abandoned by seeing suffering (because it is abandoned by seeing suffering as impermanent and merely as dharma). Therefore, in the scriptures, it says: "Any man, any person, who properly takes up and abides by the vows of a cow, the vows of a deer, and the vows of a dog, will be purified by it, will be liberated, will surely be liberated, will transcend happiness and suffering, and will also attain transcendence from happiness and suffering." To view it in this way and to speak in this way is to believe in non-causes as causes, and to hold vows and asceticism as supreme, which is to be abandoned by seeing suffering. If viewing the vows of a cow, etc., as the cause of higher realms and liberation is not done by a permanent self, would it only become abandoned by the origin to be seen? The vows of a cow, etc., are contaminated aggregates, the truth of suffering, and if one thinks they can purify and sees them as a cause, then that is entering into suffering in a reversed way, which is the answer of the Vaibhashikas. If that is the case, the higher
