All that I abandon and cultivate to abandon also becomes what is abandoned by seeing the truth of suffering, because it is entering wrongly into suffering. Furthermore, holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme, what is abandoned by seeing the path also ceases to exist, because all of that is entering wrongly into suffering. That is also because it is only accepted as what is abandoned by seeing suffering, and also in the scriptures, holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme, such as purification by the discipline of the cow, etc., is said to be abandoned by seeing suffering because of believing in a non-cause as a cause. If it is said that holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme, which is aimed at what is abandoned by seeing the path, is what is abandoned by seeing the path, that is also because it is entering wrongly into suffering. Like this, the eight subtle afflictions such as wrong views that are abandoned by seeing the path are the objects of holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme, and those eight are also contaminated, so they are included in the truth of suffering, and they are entering wrongly into it. Furthermore, what is abandoned by seeing that is aimed at the truth of the path is wrong view and doubt. If it is said that there is no path, then how can denigration and doubt become liberation merely by wrongly viewing and doubting that there is no path? Because no one believes that merely denigrating and doubting liberation and its path can purify them. If it is said that this Buddhist path is the cause of liberation, but purification is achieved by other paths examined by Samkhya and others, then that is also entering into suffering, etc., because paths other than those spoken by the Buddha Bhagavan are not the path of liberation, so they are contaminated. Or, believing that purification is achieved only by those other paths examined by Samkhya and others is not wrong view and doubt, but holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme. That is because it is only believed that purification is achieved only by those other paths of Samkhya and others, so it is only aimed at that path, and it is not established as being aimed at what is abandoned by seeing the path, so says the teacher, the son of the king. Furthermore, wrong views and doubts that are aimed at what is abandoned by seeing the origin and cessation will also become purification and liberation, because there is no difference from those two that are aimed at the path. In that case,

Moreover, the adherence to precepts and asceticism as supreme, which are abandoned by seeing, will also occur. Even so, the master said that it contradicts the assertion that those are seven and seven. Although he did not state his own view, he held the Yogacara school, which has already been mentioned above. Then, if it is said that permanence and self are inverted, are those inversions limited to just those two? It is not definite, as the sutra says: Considering impermanence as permanent, suffering as happiness, impurity as purity, and non-self as self are inversions, as well as mind inversion and consciousness inversion. Thus, twelve inversions are also mentioned. What is the nature of those? Holding to extreme views, etc., are views, and the three are the essence of those three. Therefore, considering impermanence as permanent, etc., are placed as a set of four inversions. Among them, from the aspect of the view of permanence in holding to extreme views, is the inversion of permanence; from holding to views as supreme, are the inversions of happiness and purity; and from the aspect of the view of self in the view of the aggregates, is the inversion of considering self as self. Others say that all views of self and views of what belongs to self in the view of the aggregates are inversions of considering self as self. How are those established as inversions (and not other afflictions)? Because the object is solely inverted, and because it is a definite conceptualization, and because it possesses three kinds of superimposition, it is said to be an inversion. Among them, the annihilationist view and the wrong view in holding to extreme views are because they are slanders, and the adherence to precepts and asceticism as supreme, even by those alone, will slightly purify and liberate, so they are not entirely inversions. And because other afflictions do not have definite conceptualization, they are not said to be inversions. Mind and consciousness inversions become inversions because they similarly possess those four views, so they are established there. Then, do feelings, etc., also become inversions? Because it is not said that way in the world, it is not mentioned, but the former two are because they are well-known. Regarding this, the Vaibhashikas say that all those inversions are abandoned by seeing.
