The Vaibhashikas say that just as a person once escapes from prison but is brought back by pursuers, even if they transcend desire and are born in a higher realm, they will still be brought back. Therefore, other fundamental afflictions and views besides anger will also be consistent with the final part, because even if they transcend desire, they will still be brought back. Therefore, Yogacharas (if they possess these, even if they have nothing else, even if they are free from desire, they will not transcend ordinary beings.) The first three do not transcend the final individual of sentient beings, and the latter two (even if they have attained the Dharma of the Noble Ones, they do not transcend desire.) do not transcend the different realms of realms. Although there are other afflictions that do not transcend these, they are shown because these are the most important. As it is explained in this way, the scholar's view is also the same. (Even so, those who do not incline to your Dharma, blinded by ignorance, even if they reach the peak of existence, will generate suffering and create karma.) Then, why does the stream-enterer abandon all that is to be abandoned by seeing, abandoning all five views and doubt, these six? In the Great Emptiness Sutra, it says: Once combined with this view, the view of the aggregates and the adherence to vows and asceticism, and the three afflictions of doubt, are immediately abandoned, and the truth of the Noble Ones is seen. And in the Sutra Requested by Great Name, it is asked: Venerable, to what extent can one be considered a well-entered stream-enterer? The answer is: Name, these are the three universally binding, namely the view of the aggregates, and the holding of precepts and asceticism, and doubt is also completely abandoned and completely known. Therefore, having abandoned these three universally binding, one is a stream-enterer, abandoning the three intermediate views, and only saying that the three universally binding are abandoned? Although it is so, these three contain the door of what is to be abandoned by seeing, and contain the root, therefore abandoning these three also implies abandoning the others. Therefore, only abandoning the three is shown. Among them, the view of the aggregates is one door of what is to be abandoned, and is what is to be abandoned by seeing the truth of suffering.

Since it has been shown that it has been abandoned, the view of clinging to extremes is also indirectly understood to be abandoned, because they are similar in terms of the gate. Holding precepts and asceticism as supreme is the second gate, which should be abandoned by seeing suffering and the path. (Doubt is the fourth gate to be abandoned by seeing the four truths.) Because it has been shown that it has been abandoned, wrong views and holding views as supreme are also indirectly understood to be abandoned, because they are similar in form. Because it has been shown that these have been abandoned, it has also been shown that attachment and so on, which are included in what is abandoned by seeing, have been abandoned, because attachment and so on are focused on them, so they are their objects, the commentators explain. So, if the first view and doubt are abandoned, and only clinging to extremes, or any one of holding views as supreme and wrong views, is done, it will also be shown as three fetters, because they are similar in the induction of the gate, right? No, not only that, but also because of the induction of the root. Clinging to extremes is clinging to the extreme of permanence and annihilation of the self, so it is the root of the view of the perishable aggregate (འཇིག་ཚོགས་ལ་ལྟ་བ།, Skandhadṛṣṭi, the view of the aggregates, the mistaken view that the five aggregates are "I"). Holding views as supreme is believing that anything can purify (sins) and holding it as supreme, so it is the root of holding precepts and asceticism as supreme. Wrong view is the arising of wrong hearing and thinking due to doubt, so it is the root of doubt, this is the view of the Vaibhāṣikas. Because it has been explained that being the same in form and so on is unreasonable, it should be understood as the induction of the root or the main reason. The teacher said, for example, when going to another place, as long as there are these three obstacles of not wanting to go, going the wrong way, and doubting the road, one will not go to another place. Similarly, there are three obstacles on the path to liberation. Because it has been shown that these obstacles have been abandoned, there are no obstacles on the path to liberation, so it is only shown that the three fetters of entering the stream have been abandoned. Among them, the first fetter is that because of doubting that I will be annihilated, one is afraid of liberation and unwilling to go. The second fetter (holding precepts as supreme) is that because of relying on other paths, one has embarked on the wrong path. The third fetter is doubting the path, they explain. It is also said in the "Friendly Epistle": Holding precepts and asceticism as supreme, and inverted views and doubts about one's own body.
