This is because of being associated with desires and so on. If so, will the rivers and bonds become three? No, all the views of the three realms are shown as rivers and bonds that are seen as distinct from other afflictions. The Vaibhashikas believe that views are more easily shaken by other afflictions and have clearer forms. If so, then since ignorance is not clear in form, it should not be pointed out separately; and anger and desire, etc., should also be pointed out separately, which would be a fault. Therefore, it should be understood that this is said in accordance with the minds of the disciples. If so, then the outflows will also become four, because there is no difference? No, in the outflows, views are not shown separately. If it is said that it is called outflow because it establishes one in samsara, then solitary views without the help of other afflictions such as desire do not correspond to the meaning of the name of establishing one in samsara. The word "solitary" is the view of the Vaibhashikas. If the meaning of establishment is considered to be directly connecting to samsara, then ignorance will not become an outflow either, because in reality only craving connects to samsara. As it is said in the Pramanavarttika: "The mind of suffering's perversion, craving sarvabandhana (藏文,梵文天城体,sarvabandhana,English literal meaning: all bonds), wherever there is no cause of birth, that will not arise." As it is said. The perverted mind is not ignorance but view. If it is merely considered to be the instigator, then all afflictions will establish beings in samsara, and views will also become a fault there. Therefore, this should also be understood as being spoken only according to the wishes of the disciples. Third, explaining clinging, the sutra says: "There are four clingings: desire clinging, view clinging, moral discipline and asceticism supreme clinging, and self-assertion clinging." As it is said. The rivers and bonds of desire and existence mentioned above, together with ignorance, are respectively desire clinging and self-assertion clinging. The five views are divided into two: view clinging and moral discipline and asceticism supreme clinging. Among them, moral discipline and asceticism supreme clinging are different.

What is proclaimed is that because the paths of Samkhya and others consider that liberation can be attained through these paths, they become enemies of the correct path; and because believing that purity can be attained by not eating food, entering fire and water, etc., and abandoning pleasing objects, they deceive both householders and renunciants, so it is established separately. Unmixed ignorance is not the cause of clinging to samsara merely because it is not obvious; mixed ignorance is because it is taken by the power of being connected with other defilements, so it is mixed with defilements other than views and takes desire and the assertion of self, and the meaning of taking is said to be approaching samsara. This is the view of the Vaibhashikas. The teacher believes that only the desire of intention is taken, so it is not said that ignorance is taken, not because it is not a holder, so it is not said separately that ignorance is taken. In this regard, combination and taking are the desire of intention itself, not other defilements, if the meaning of combination and taking is actually combining and taking samsara, then other defilements are not like that, but desire is actually the cause of combining and approaching to take samsara, so the teacher Gunaprabha explains. Therefore, the combination of desire and approaching to take is the attachment to desire itself, similarly, the attachment to existence itself is the combination of existence and taking the assertion of self, as it is said in the sutra: What is the combination of desire? From attachment to these desires (to desire), desire for desire, craving for desire, deep belief in desire, infatuation with desire, clinging to desire, joy in desire, love for desire, and especially attachment to desire, whatever exists, with this completely pervading this mind and abiding, this is called the combination of desire, up to this point. What is the combination of views? From attachment to these views, to abiding, this is called the combination of views, up to this point. Also, from the perspective of taking freely, what is taking? There is desire for intention.
