Therefore, this is the order of birth. Former teachers said that the object of what is to be abandoned by seeing is the view that exists in one's own continuum, so hatred is not hatred of others' views. However, I say that I have abandoned such a bad view as before, so it is hatred of the view that one has previously held. (Because it is not certain what will be born after what, although it is not certain that it will be born like this, it is possible to be born like this because it is based on the truth, so it is considered in this way.) Ninth, the cause of birth is that the power of the cause and the condition obtained in the continuum have not been cut off, and strong afflictions have not arisen, so it is not that the latent tendencies have been abandoned. And, the power of the object and the object, such as desire, the object that is in accordance with birth abides nearby. And, the power of application and the immediately following condition, non-virtuous attention, these three produce afflictions, so the cause of afflictions is complete. The Vaibhashikas say that like the afflictions of an Arhat who has completely lost the Dharma, sometimes even without the power of the cause, it arises only from the power of the object. The commentary says that the fruit that is born without the cause being complete does not exist, the commentators explain it this way. Here, what is said to be "not abandoning the latent tendencies" is considered by the Sutrantikas and others to be the seed of afflictions, and by the Vaibhashikas to be attainment. Tenth, in order to show the distinctions of outflows and so on mentioned in the sutras, the meaning of outflows and, rivers and combinations and, acquisitions and, latent tendencies and so on, and, all fetters and, bonds and, near afflictions and, all entanglements and, defilements and, the distinctions of these aspects and, the explanation of the five obscurations and eleven, the first is those latent tendencies themselves, the sutras say, outflows of desire and, outflows of existence and, outflows of ignorance, thus three outflows are spoken of, among which the afflictions other than the five types of ignorance in the desire realm, twelve views, four doubts, three types of desire, anger, and pride, five each, totaling thirty-one, and all ten entanglements, totaling forty-one, are the outflows of desire. In the form and formless realms, the twenty-six latent tendencies other than the ten types of ignorance.

Just adding up the fifty-two mentioned above, that is the leakage of existence. Then, the leakages of existence would become fifty-six, because the two upper realms also have the pervasive agitation and torpor. In the Vibhajyavāda it says: What is the 'leakage of existence'? Other than ignorance, the pervasiveness, bondage, latent tendencies, near afflictions, and pervasive entanglements related to the form and formless realms, these are called leakages of existence. Why is it said so? The Kashmiris say that because the agitation and torpor of the upper two realms are also associated with desire and so on, and are not independent, they are not mentioned. If that is the case, then the shamelessness, lack of embarrassment, agitation, and torpor of the desire realm would also become not leakages of desire, because they are associated with desire and so on, and are not independent. To this, some argue that because their own function is small, they are considered not independent; but it is not because they are associated with desire and so on that they are not independent. Combining the latent tendencies of the upper two realms into one leakage of existence is because these afflictions are obscured and not pointed out, are inward-looking, and are the realm of meditative absorption, so they are made into one. (The purpose is to counteract the thought of liberation from it.) Combining all fifteen types of ignorance from all three realms into one is the leakage of ignorance. Singling it out is because ignorance is the root of all afflictions, and therefore the fault is very great, so the leakage of ignorance is singled out. The sutra says: The cause that makes one completely attached is ignorance. It also says: In this world and the next, all the evil destinies caused by desire and attachment are rooted in ignorance. Secondly, explaining the four rivers and four bonds. Again, the sutra says: There are four rivers, namely the river of desire, the river of existence, the river of views, and the river of ignorance. There are also four bonds, namely the bond of desire, the bond of existence, the bond of views, and the bond of ignorance. The rivers and bonds should also be understood in the same way as the leakages are explained, that is, like the explanation of the leakage of desire and so on.
