And for the deeds done, generating regret and repentance, and not creating them again in the future, as well as the accumulation and completion of deeds being incomplete, these are small deeds, and it is not certain that they will be subject to fruition. Thus it was said. In the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra, it says: 'Always defiled by manifest afflictions, or aroused by antidotes, in the fields of merit and benefit, and for those who suffer, great virtue arises.' It explains four ways in which deeds become great through time, intention, abandoning opposing factors, and the field. In the Suhrllekha, it says: 'Always with manifest attachment and without antidotes, deeds arising from the lord of qualities and the basis, both virtuous and non-virtuous, are five great ones. Therefore, strive to engage in virtue.' This is in addition to the four, if the body and mind are mature and done by a powerful person, the deed is greater, and five are explained. In the Compendium of Topics, it says that a person with strong antidotes transforms the fruition that should be experienced in hell, etc., into experience in this life, and transforms the fruition that should be experienced in this life into non-experience, therefore the antidote is strong. Because the retinue of root afflictions and near afflictions is numerous, the non-virtuous deeds of beings in the desire realm are more powerful than virtuous deeds. Unfamiliar deeds are more powerful than familiar deeds. The so-called abiding in a place means that deeds done by those with mature body and mind are more powerful than those done by young and old people. The non-virtuous deeds done by those of broken lineage are more powerful than those done by those of good lineage. It is powerful because of the special field of the Three Jewels and parents, etc. And the deeds done with strong intention, such as generating the mind of the three vehicles, are more powerful. Furthermore, it should be known that there are nine ways in which deeds can be powerful, namely: field, object, nature, basis, attention, intention, companion, doing it many times, and doing it by many people. Among them, the field means that giving to those who have precepts is more powerful than giving to those who do not have precepts. The object means that giving a lot of good things with a little bad thing is more powerful. The nature means that the three bases of meritorious deeds and the six perfections, etc., the latter is more powerful in nature than the former. The basis means that the deeds done by a person with attachment are not as powerful as the deeds done by a person without attachment. Attention means

In terms of intention, it is more powerful than doing it with an ordinary mind, or doing it with strong afflictions. In terms of motivation, it is more powerful to do it for the sake of liberation's cause and effect than to do it for the sake of samsara's cause and effect. In terms of companions, it is more powerful to have companions such as keeping precepts, or to have rejoicing companions, than just giving alms alone. In terms of doing it many times, it is more powerful than doing it only once. In terms of being done by many people, it is more powerful than being done by oneself alone, and it is more powerful to do it oneself and also have others do it. Some people think that it is more powerful when many people gather together to do it. The opposite of these are called actions that do not have power. Also, in the sutra it says: "Actions that are done and accumulated, and actions that are done and not accumulated." Regarding these, one should not indulge in advance, nor do them casually, but rather think, "I must do this," and do them with deliberate thought. The limbs of the action (i.e., what will accomplish the birth), are done completely. After doing it, there is no regret, no remorse, etc. This action has no antidotes of harm, such as rejoicing, etc. It is accompanied by retinue. It is certain to experience the ripening. These six are called actions that are done and accumulated. Other actions, i.e., what will accomplish the birth, are called actions that are done and not accumulated. Similarly, one should also know about accumulating but not doing, and neither of the two. Among them, completeness means that some actions, by one of misusing and using well, go to bad destinies or rise to good destinies. Some actions, with the ten actions of body, speech, and mind, go to bad destinies or rise to good destinies. Those actions are done completely. No antidote means that there are no wrong views and regrets, etc., and no confession and protection, etc. In the Compendium of Definitive Determinations, it says: No antidote means doing non-virtuous actions such as killing, not accepting any precepts, not abiding in fasting on the eighth, fourteenth, and fifteenth fasting days, not constantly giving alms, accumulating merit, speaking frankly, prostrating, standing up, joining palms, bowing, etc., without interruption, and not constantly having shame and regret.
