Failure). Therefore, if one regards another's wife as one's own and engages in sexual activity, it is not considered sexual misconduct. Then, if one regards another's wife as another's wife and engages in sexual activity, is it not considered sexual misconduct because there is no mistake? Some former teachers say that even if the perception of the particular is mistaken, the perception of another's wife in general is not mistaken, so the act of intercourse is performed, and the object is completely used, so it constitutes sexual misconduct. Some say that at the time of intercourse, one perceives the other, so in reality, one is engaging with another, so it does not constitute sexual misconduct, just like killing, which is the former view. These are the three actions of the body. A false word is when the speaker himself speaks about something, with the intention of causing the other person to have a different understanding, thereby speaking untruthfully, so that the meaning of the word becomes apparent. Here, it should also be understood as "intentionally" and "without error," because there is no actual action in the case of unintentional or mistaken actions. The so-called "meaning of the word becomes apparent" should also be understood to include situations such as slander. (Seeing and not seeing, hearing and not hearing, comprehending and not comprehending, knowing and not knowing, speaking truthfully is the way of the noble, false speech is the way of children.) Then, in the Sutra of Eight Sections, it says that there are eight non-noble expressions and eight noble expressions, a total of sixteen. For things that are seen, heard, comprehended, and fully known, saying that they are not seen, etc., are four situations; for things that are not seen, etc., saying that they are seen, etc., are four situations, these eight are the expressions of children, and are false. Saying that things that are seen are seen, etc., are four situations; saying that things that are not seen are not seen, etc., are four situations, these eight are the expressions of the noble, and are truthful. Then, what are the four situations of seeing, etc., mentioned in the sutra? What is experienced by the consciousness of the eye is seeing. What is experienced by the consciousness of the ear is hearing. What is experienced by the consciousness of the mind is full knowledge. What is experienced by the three consciousnesses of the nose, tongue, and body is comprehension, therefore, it is explained in order. Among them, smell and taste, etc.

The three "ga-bya" are unobscured and unspecified, because they cannot produce fruition, so they are like being dead, with little power, hence called "awareness." Because the word "awareness" is also used to refer to death. Some say that just as a corpse is not followed by good or non-good, but only by the unspecified, so these three "ga-bya" are also unspecified, so they are like being dead. If this is so, how is it known? It is through scripture and reasoning. Among them, the scripture is from the Sutra Requested by the Mother of Offerings, the Possessor of Life: "Mother of Offerings, what do you think, if you have not seen a form with your eyes, have not seen it before, and do not look at it, and you do not even think 'I should look at it,' would you arise desire, attachment, craving, joy, infatuation, intimacy, or special infatuation from that basis? No, venerable one." Similarly, sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharma should also be connected with the consciousnesses of ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind, and explained extensively. To summarize, the sutra says: "Mother of Offerings, even if you see it, it is just seeing; hearing, thinking, and distinguishing are just distinguishing." Therefore, the three objects of eye, ear, and mind consciousness are indicated by the name "bang," so the word "awareness" implicitly refers to the three, such as smell. If it were not so, then the naming of the three, such as smell, would be interrupted, because they are not included in seeing, etc., nor are they awareness. This is the view of the Vaibhashikas. Master Gunamati says that whatever meets with its own sense faculty is awareness, and these three sense faculties also meet with their own objects. Former masters said that the meaning of the sutra is not like that. The five objects are manifested by the consciousnesses that rely on the five sense faculties, and that is seeing. Knowing the six objects by relying on the sound that comes from elsewhere is hearing. Knowing the six objects by inferring through one's own non-deceptive reasoning is awareness. By meditating to make the mind become manifest, thereby individually knowing
