If good and non-good are established by arising, then the arising of body and speech also transforms into good and non-good, because the mind arises simultaneously with the actions of body and speech, and is also the cause of arising? The answer is: Not so, because the mind does not think of the arising of the mind as "the doer is the action," therefore it is not so. If it is said that it is by the power of thought, not just by arising, then is the mental activity of equanimity not good? If it is said that one has already thought before entering equanimity? The answer is: That is not the cause of equality, therefore it is not the ariser. If so, the divine eye and divine ear should also become good, because one thinks of them at the time of conjunction. It is not similar, the actions of body and speech are not seen without mind, but the arisings arise even without mind, therefore they are not distinguished as good, etc., like the eye, etc. However, they are not similar in nature and attainment, etc. These are established as good, etc., by the power of Dharma, while the arisings are by nature indeterminate. The conjunction of the divine eye and divine ear is also the appearance and sound mental activity, therefore it is said that it is not good by the power of conjunction. By the way, regarding the explanation of arising, if what is abandoned by seeing does not arise mental activity, then the sutra says, "From wrong view, the extremes of wrong discrimination, wrong speech, and wrong action arise," does this contradict it? Thus, there are two kinds of arising, namely the arising of cause and the arising of (action) at that time. Among these two arisings, the first arising of cause is the cause that makes the action initially enter (like preparation), and the second arising of time is to make it consistent at the time of performing the action, and to make it follow (like the main practice). Among them, the consciousness of the mind to be abandoned by seeing is (from wrong view, the consciousness that shows the desire for it arises looking outward, so is it definitely the arising of body and speech? Or does wrong view arise killing, etc.?) looking inward, so it is the initial enterer of mental activity, which is the arising of cause, not the arising of time. The consciousness of the mind to be abandoned by meditation is the arising of the cause of mental activity and the arising of time.

Both are intentions. (Because there is also observation looking outward.) The five consciousnesses, such as the eye, are without conceptualization, so the subsequent action is only the intention of time. Therefore, the mental factors associated with them should also be understood in the same way. Therefore, in the sutra, it is said that wrong views, which are abandoned by seeing, initiate all activities, which is in terms of the intention of cause. Saying that there is no obscured activity intention in the desire realm is in terms of the intention of time. Therefore, the view of the aggregates of desire and the view of clinging to extremes (the first two) are obscured and are unspecified views to be abandoned by seeing, which can be the causal intention of activity, but the intention of time depends only on the consciousness to be abandoned by meditation. Since the consciousness to be abandoned by meditation is also obscured and does not exist in the desire realm, it is said that there is no obscured activity in the desire realm. Then, since the intention of time is the main one, if the intention of cause is done by virtue, and the intention of time is done by non-virtue or unspecified, then the vows will not become virtuous, right? Answer: If the intention of intention is different in the types of views to be abandoned by seeing and views to be abandoned by meditation, then the intention of time becomes the main one, but in the same category, the intention of cause itself is the main one, so there is no such fault. If the intention of cause and the intention of time are the same or different, what is it like? It exists according to the situation. The initiator, the intention of cause, is virtuous, and the subsequent intention of time may also become virtuous, non-virtuous, or unspecified in three ways. Similarly, it should be known that the initiator, non-virtuous and unspecified, which is included by the word "etc.", also has three types of followers. (Therefore, there are four possibilities for the initiator and the follower: the mind of the view to be abandoned by seeing is only the initiator, the five sense consciousnesses are only the follower, the consciousness to be abandoned by meditation is both, and the uncontaminated is neither.) What is specifically pointed out is this: the Buddha's initiator is virtuous and unspecified, and the follower is also virtuous.
