All forms of action and non-action are caused by the elements of their respective realms. From the actions of body and speech belonging to the desire realm, which are caused by the elements of the desire realm, to the actions of body and speech of the fourth dhyana realm, which are caused by the elements of the fourth dhyana realm alone. The actions of body and speech that are without outflows are the elements of the realm in which the vows arise, because they depend on a powerful force. Because they necessarily rely on the elements, except in the realm without outflows, and because there are no other elements in the realm without outflows. Therefore, if vows without outflows arise in the continuum of a being in the desire realm, they arise from the elements of the desire realm, and so on. Furthermore, the nature of non-manifest form is not a form composed of aggregates of particles, so it does not abide in a place, and because it is not the basis of mental states such as feelings of pleasure and pain, it is not an object of perception. Because it arises from an equal cause, it arises from a cause of similar type, but not from maturation or increase. Because it is determined to be either virtuous or non-virtuous in sequence, it is not neutral. And because it is not an accumulation of particles, the causes of increase do not cause it to increase. It is shown as a sentient being, because it is a dharma belonging to the continuum. The non-manifest form of the desire realm depends on the intention of the motivation, and is not meditative stabilization, and because it connects after the cessation of form, the sequence is sleep, and increase by meditative stabilization, and it does not arise from the elements born of maturation, but from the elements born of equal cause, which are born from a cause of similar type, and because it exists in the present collection of bodies, it arises from the cause of the great elements that are included in the continuum, and because it is not following the mind, it arises from the different collections of the four great elements. The non-manifest form born from meditative stabilization, the vows of dhyana and without outflows, is said in the commentary that in the state of meditative stabilization, the elements that follow the mind arise in the body, because the great elements that are included arise without mind in states such as the cessation of perception and feeling. It is said that this is the element that is not included by the elements, and the element that is born from the element that is born from increase.

Yes. It is for the sake of increasing samadhi. It arises from the elements not being different by following the mind, because all seven abandonments also rely on one set of four elements. Therefore, in the commentary it says: Because the elements are not different according to the mind. And the ṭīkā authors also say: Just as the mind that produces it is not different, so too the elements that produce it are only not different. The great elements are not the basis of non-manifestation in the sense of support. What is it then? It is in the sense of causing it to enter, therefore it is said that it arises from non-different elements. This shows that what is not born from samadhi is that each abandonment is born from each set of four elements, therefore it is born from different elements. Third, the differences between them also include the difference of essence and place, the distinction of virtue, non-virtue, and neutrality, the extensive distinction of non-manifestation, the manner of possessing, the manner of obtaining, the manner of abandoning, and the seven differences of support. First, non-manifestation is not predicted to be non-virtuous and non-evil, because if this is transformed into virtue, etc., by intention, then the mind of neutrality has little power, and even if the intention ceases, it has no power to propel the continuous action. Other than that, manifestation and mind are of three kinds: virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral. Among them, non-virtuous non-manifestation, manifestation, and mind should be known to exist only in the desire realm. In the form realm, there is also the non-manifestation of the vows of uncontaminated meditation. And the word "also" indicates that it exists in the desire realm, because in the formless realm, all form does not exist. Manifestation of body and speech does not have intention above the second [dhyana], therefore it exists only in the desire realm and the first dhyana, which have investigation and analysis, and even in the desire realm there is no obscured and unpredicted manifestation, because there is no universally arising obscured mind there, for example, observing in the desire realm
