From those two arise the non-virtuous and obscured of the desire realm, and the obscured of the formless realm. The other non-arising is as before. Just as it arises from the three unobscured and unspecified of the form realm, and it is said that six arise from that, so too should it be understood in the same way for the unobscured and unspecified of the formless realm: when oneself is in continuity and on the same ground, it arises only from one's own three grounds. From that, in the intermediate state, from the maturation-born arise the two afflictions of the desire realm and the obscured of the form realm. In continuity, from the maturation-born itself, and on the same ground, only the virtue born from birth and the obscured arise, therefore only one's own three grounds, that is, six, arise. From the virtuous mind of the formless realm (because the virtuous of the desire realm and the unobscured of the desire and form realms are abandoned), nine minds arise. In continuity, both virtues arise mutually, and on the same ground, from both virtues arise both obscured and unobscured, therefore it is one's own three grounds. In absorption, only from the application-born arise the two uncontaminated. (The uncontaminated learning is the path of meditation.) When rising from absorption, only from the application-born of the formless realm arises only the virtuous application-born of the form realm. In the intermediate state, only from the virtuous birth-born of the formless realm arise the two afflictions of the desire realm and the obscured of the form realm. That virtuous mind of the formless realm is the subsequent arising of (one's own three grounds, the virtuous of the form realm, the two uncontaminated, that is) six minds. In continuity, the two virtues arise mutually. On the same ground, from the obscured arise both virtues, and from the unobscured maturation-born arises only the virtuous birth-born, therefore it is one's own three grounds. In absorption, only from the virtuous application-born of the form realm arises only the application-born of the formless realm. When rising from absorption, after the two uncontaminated, only the application-born of the formless realm arises. From the obscured and unspecified mind of the formless realm, (one's own three grounds, the three afflictions below, the virtuous application-born, that is) seven minds arise. In continuity and on the same ground, it is one's own three grounds. In the intermediate state, it is the obscured of the form realm and the desire realm.

When afflicted by two types of defilements and meditative defilements, only the meritorious deeds of the form realm, which arise from cultivation, occur. Just as seven arise from the obscurations of the formless realm, so too do these obscurations (omitting the three defilements and two uncontaminated ones of the two lower realms) arise from seven: when the continuum and ground are the same, the three of one's own ground; and at the moment of rebirth, the innate merit of the form realm, the innate merit of the desire realm, the unobscured and unspecified maturation of the desire and form realms, and only those that follow the path of joining. The mind of a learner arises from four: at the time of entering into meditative absorption, only the three meritorious deeds of the three realms that arise from cultivation; and in the continuum, the learner himself arises as the immediate successor to the learner himself. From that mind of a learner, five arise: when arising from meditative absorption, both the innate and cultivated arise because the innate of the desire realm is also clear; and because the innate of the two higher realms is not clear, only the two cultivated arise because it is not a rising mind, thus there are the three merits of the three realms; and in the continuum, the learner himself; and at the time of entering into meditative absorption, the non-learner's knowledge of exhaustion arises as the immediate successor to the learner's vajra-like samadhi. The mind of a non-learner arises from five: at the time of entering into meditative absorption, only the three meritorious deeds of the three realms that arise from cultivation; and after the learner's vajra-like samadhi; and in the continuum, the non-learner himself arises. From the non-learner, four minds arise: when arising from meditative absorption, the merit of the three realms is as before, both of the desire realm and the two cultivated of the two higher realms, that is, three; and in the continuum (such as knowing that the knowledge of exhaustion does not arise), the non-learner himself arises. If that is the case, then five minds would arise from the non-learner, because at the time of complete degeneration, a learner arises after the non-learner, if such a question is posed. When defilements are not manifest, the non-learner does not degenerate; and when defilements are manifest, it is because the defilements are an intervening obstacle. (Because it is not an immediate condition.) That itself.
