They say that just as characteristics are the co-emergent cause of the view of the aggregates, so too, for the same reason, characteristics that are concordant with mind are also the cause of the co-emergence of mind. The Southerners say that they do not extract it from the Abhidharma, but because they extract it in places such as 'the arising of the view of the aggregates,' there is no contradiction. The Kashmiris say that even if they do not extract it (explicitly), it should be extracted because it is obtained through meaning.

It should also be observed whether cessation is neither of the two. The second case of being a cause but not a result of the view of the aggregation of annihilation is impossible, because the four causes of the view of the aggregation of annihilation are definitely afflictions, and all afflictions arise from the pervasive cause of the view of the aggregation of annihilation. What is a result but not a cause of the view of the aggregation of annihilation is (among the five types of abandonment) the subtle afflictions of the abandonment of the view of suffering (among the ten) the view of the aggregation of annihilation itself and the eight other than ignorance among the other nine, that is, the future and those with correspondence, because they are afflictions, so they arise from the pervasive cause of the past and present of the view of the aggregation of annihilation, and are not the cause of the view of the aggregation of annihilation, because the future (as stated in "pervasive equal division two times") is not the cause of equal division and pervasiveness, and except for ignorance, the root afflictions do not mutually possess similarity, nor do they arise simultaneously. The view of the aggregation of annihilation itself in the future also arises from its own past and present equal division pervasiveness, and the future is not those two causes, and does not arise simultaneously with itself and possess similarity. Therefore, that view is a result but not a cause. Similarly, the pervasive future of the abandonment of the view of the origin with correspondence (characteristics), also because (the types of abandonment are different, they do not arise simultaneously, etc.) those reasons are the same, so they are the result but not the cause of the view of the aggregation of annihilation. (Because they are pervasive, they cannot be the cause of pervasiveness, the categories are different, so they are not equal divisions, and because they do not have similarity, they will not arise simultaneously.) The non-pervasive of the abandonment of the view of the origin with correspondence, the three times, and the afflictions of the abandonment of the view of cessation and path and the abandonment of cultivation, also arise from the pervasive cause of the view of the aggregation of annihilation. (Because it is not desired that there be pervasive afflictions other than suffering and origin.) They are not the cause of pervasiveness (because "those of their own class born earlier" are of different categories), they are not equal divisions, the categories are different, they do not possess similarity, and they do not arise simultaneously (so the four causes are impossible), therefore the view of the aggregation of annihilation is their

It is not a result. Similarly, the attainment of all afflictions such as the view of the aggregates (three times) and so on (are also afflictions, therefore they are the result of the view of the aggregates, but not the aspect of the cause, that is, the author of this attainment, does not belong to the later Dharma, and even if it arises simultaneously, it cannot function, therefore it is not the cause). (three times) and, except for the characteristics of the view of the aggregates and those corresponding to it, all other characteristics of afflictions (because continuity is impossible) are also the results of the past and present conforming pervasive actions of the view of the aggregates, but not the cause. What is both cause and result is (among the four parts): the ten subtle attachments to be abandoned by the sight of suffering, the past and present ones and their corresponding ones (etc., because they arise from the conforming pervasive cause of the previous view of the aggregates, and the view of the aggregates also arises from those previous conforming pervasive causes respectively. Because it also arises from the pervasive cause of all conformity, the four views, ignorance, and doubt). Because the view of the aggregates is the conforming pervasive cause of those ten, and the ten are also the conforming cause of the view of the aggregates, and those views and doubts and ignorance are also the pervasive cause of the first view. From the root affliction of ignorance and other than that, the mind and mental factors, the view of the aggregates and the corresponding past, present, and future three times, are also both the cause and result of the view of the aggregates, because those corresponding ones arise from the four causes of the view of the aggregates, and the view of the aggregates also arises from the corresponding past and present four causes, and the future simultaneous arising and corresponding ones. Similarly, the pervasive aspects of the abandonment of the sight of the origin, past and present, also arise from the pervasive cause of the view of the aggregates, and the view of the aggregates also arises from those pervasive causes, therefore it is an aspect of both. (Although the two causes and effects of the view of the aggregates are said to be the ten past and present ones to be abandoned by the sight of suffering, its ignorance can also be counted as the three times).
