In addition, explaining the causes, conditions, and results, etc. First, explaining the causes. In addition, explaining the causes, conditions, and results, etc. First, explaining the causes. Secondly, in addition to explaining the causes, conditions, and results, etc., among the three explanations of causes, results, and conditions, the first one is also divided into three parts. Among them, the brief explanation is that the Vaibhashikas believe that there are six types of causes. The reason why it is not said that "there are six types of causes" is that when writing the Abhidharmakosha, due to the decline of the basis of summarizing, they did not see the sutra that could summarize the six causes into one, but they saw the sutras that separately explained the six causes. For example, "depending on the eye and form, eye consciousness arises," which explains the efficient cause. The sutra says, "These three limbs of the path follow right view, namely, co-emergent feeling, perception, and mind." This explains the co-emergent cause. The sutra says, "This person possesses virtuous dharmas and also possesses non-intelligent dharmas," from "this person has a virtuous root that is not completely severed, from which other virtuous roots arise, small and co-emergent." In this way, this person will become a completely pure dharma in the future. This explains the homogeneous cause. The sutra says, "After realization, being in accordance with wisdom is similar to faith with a basis of seeing," which explains the corresponding cause. The sutra says, "A person with wrong views, whatever actions of body, actions of speech, thoughts, and wishes, and whatever formations that are in accordance with these, all become undesirable, ugly, unpleasant, and disagreeable," which explains the pervasive cause. The sutra says, "The ripening that is intentionally thought about, done, and accumulated," which explains the ripening cause. Thus connected. What are the six? Namely, the efficient cause, the co-emergent cause, the homogeneous cause, the corresponding cause, the pervasive cause, and the ripening cause.

It is called a cause. (Causes are definitely six in number: the common cause of all effects is the acting cause; among individual causes, the general cause that arises together is the co-emergent cause; the specific cause is the similar cause. That which produces the same thing at different times is the similar-flowing cause; that which produces only afflictions is the all-pervasive cause; and that which produces different things is the ripening cause, thus being definitely six.) In explaining their individual natures, the first of the six causes, the acting cause, is (because it is contradictory for oneself to act on oneself), everything other than the effect itself (conditioned and unconditioned) is considered to be the acting cause. Why is that? Because they abide in a nature that does not obstruct the arising of the effect. If merely not obstructing is enough to become a cause, then how can it become a cause? For the cause of sprouts and so on, would unconditioned phenomena and hell also become the cause for the formless aggregates? Here, the acting cause is divided into two types: capable and incapable. The first is like seeds and so on for sprouts and so on, which is the nature of the acting cause. The second is like unconditioned phenomena and hell for the formless aggregates, which is considering not obstructing as a cause, just as villagers say that the king has not tormented us with taxes and armies, so we are happy. Some say that everything can also indirectly produce through various means, through unconditioned phenomena and hell, in the manner of mental consciousness's object, and from that, good and non-good arise, and from that, the container world and formless aggregates arise in sequence. If not obstructing arising is a cause, then light and heat touch will not become the acting cause of darkness and cold touch, because they obstruct those phenomena. Even so, not everything other than oneself can become an acting cause, right? Light and so on obstruct the phenomena of darkness and so on not arising, but they cannot obstruct arising (because for a cause without defects, what can the effect use to prevent it?), and since the acting cause is that which does not obstruct arising, they also
