Hesitating without admitting mistakes (entrusting words to the wind) is an action that obstructs the attainment of correct teachings. Jealousy is intolerance of others' perfections, serving as the basis for mental unease. Anger is attachment to sin. What is anger among the five aggregates? It is the act of scolding with harsh words, and scolding with harsh words out of an angry mind is explained as belonging to the category of hatred, which is reasonable. Its function is to generate verbal misconduct, not to abide in happiness, and to increase non-merit. Therefore, the teacher with steadfast wisdom said that it is difficult to associate with those who possess these qualities. Concealment is hiding and covering up faults, and its function is that if faults are hidden, regret will arise, and unease will certainly occur, thus it is the basis for regret and not abiding in happiness. Stinginess is attachment to Dharma and wealth (stinginess of merit) and the possessions of the wise, holding on to them without giving them to others, which is the action of not diminishing resources. Deceit is attachment to gaining respect and so on, pretending to have qualities that one does not possess, and its function is to be the basis of wrong livelihood. Pride will become apparent, and its function is to be the basis of all afflictions and near afflictions. Harmfulness is the desire for sentient beings to suffer, which is the action of creating conflict. Thus, these ten are the grounds of minor afflictions, being the same as the root affliction (not sharing with others, but having autonomy, therefore a friend) ignorance, (because it does not misunderstand the truth) only to be abandoned by meditation, only the same as the mind consciousness to be abandoned by meditation (is the ground of mind). Secondly, explaining the incidentally undetermined, then in the commentaries of the teachers Guṇaprabha and Vasubandhu it is said: Investigation and analysis, regret and sleep, Anger and attachment, pride and doubt, These eight are explained as undetermined. Since this is said, why are they not explained in the classification of mental factors? Because by directly explaining those that are determined, it is implied that these are undetermined, so it can be understood.

I won't elaborate further. How is it uncertain? For the time being (the first four groups are uncertain, in order). The universal ground is not, because it does not arise in all minds. The virtuous ground is also not, because it does not arise in all virtuous minds. The afflicted ground is also not, because it does not necessarily arise in all afflicted minds. The non-virtuous ground is also not, because it does not necessarily arise in all non-virtuous minds. The minor affliction ground is also not, (the reason for not establishing it as a minor affliction ground) investigation and analysis are present in all three, regret is present in the first, sleep is present in the first two (not present, because both are to be abandoned), and, attachment and aversion are present in the last two (uncertain), pride (both are to be abandoned) and doubt (is to be abandoned by seeing, therefore) are not present in the middle, therefore it is not only the same as ignorance, nor only the same as abandonment by meditation, nor only the same as attention, because it is not only the same as having the same. What is the reason for that? Third, showing in which mind's range it arises as a mental factor, in the desire realm (virtuous and non-virtuous mixed and unmixed, and indeterminate obscured and unobscured, there are five minds, among which) for all virtuous minds, twenty-two mental factors arise, thus connecting. If asked why? Because it has the first two groups, and the two of investigation and analysis. Because it is a virtuous mind, the last three groups, and the uncertain anger, attachment, pride and doubt do not arise. Sleep and regret sometimes arise, but are uncertain. Similarly, for the following ones, the reasons should be understood accordingly. For all virtuous minds of the desire realm, regret does not arise, therefore in some minds that have virtuous regret, adding regret, it corresponds to those twenty-three. Because regretting not doing good deeds and doing bad deeds is virtuous. Regret is remorse arising from focusing on bad deeds, for virtuous regret, there is also a bad thought, and for regretting not doing, the name of bad deeds is also used to call not doing what should be done, therefore it is not non-pervasive, thus explained, but the object
