Has transcended attachment to desires and views, even to the point of complete attachment. Said: Katyayana, where is your teacher now? Replied: Brahmin, that one is in the city called Shravasti in the eastern region, in the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta, in the Garden of Anathapindika. Then, the Brahmin with a staff in his hand, stood up from his seat, folded his palms and prostrated to the Buddha, the Bhagavan, saying: I prostrate to that Buddha who has transcended attachment to desires and views, even completely transcended. Having said this, he prostrated to the east, feeling very happy, and then returned to his abode. The Blessed One said: Keep this meaning in mind, and praised (the Buddha) who does not argue with the wise men of various schools. Not attached to desires, not showing connections, having broken the net of views, therefore no dispute arises, how can a dispute arise without a root? Thus he said. () Perception is the root of disputes among renunciants, because excessive attachment to views leads to distorted perception, clinging to the tenets of oneself and others as signs of good and bad, therefore ascetics and ascetics and others argue. Therefore, know that these two are the root of disputes. In order to know that happiness and other feelings are accumulated in association with attachments and so on, and because of distorted perception, these are the main causes of samsara. In order to know the four reasons for explaining the gross and so on in the order to be explained below, therefore, the Blessed One separately established feeling and perception as aggregates from other mental factors. Furthermore, why are the realms and sources said to be not included, but not the aggregates? It is not said that they are not included in the aggregates, because what is not included does not have the characteristics of the five aggregates, so they are not suitable as the meaning of aggregates. Nor can it be the sixth aggregate, because it is not suitable as the meaning of accumulating many transcendent dharmas and so on. In addition, in order to understand the root of afflictions, the aggregate of grasping is spoken of; in order to understand the root of both afflictions and purification, the aggregates are taught.
