There are three types of virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral. Among them, form and sound are included in the physical and verbal actions, and are initiated by virtuous or non-virtuous minds, so virtue or non-virtue is distinguished by intention; initiated by a neutral mind; (although included in the continuum,) not included in the actions (everything not included in the continuum) is intrinsically neutral. The seven mental realms are also virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral because they are associated with non-attachment to companions, attachment, and so on. Some elements of the dharma realm are virtuous by nature, some are virtuous by association, some are virtuous by intention, and some are virtuous in the ultimate sense. (Obtaining these characteristics and possessing these is also virtuous.) It should be understood similarly for non-virtue and neutrality. The characteristics of virtue and non-virtue are, in order, being praised by the noble ones and producing harmless results, and the opposite of that. Some say that the characteristic of virtue is constant happiness and producing pleasant results, which is unreasonable, because that which produces the feeling of the fourth dhyana and above would become non-virtuous. If it is said that equanimity is also pleasant, that is not correct, because "pleasant and unpleasant" and so on, pleasant refers to happiness. Furthermore, among the eighteen realms, those that belong to the desire realm (i.e., not separated) are all eighteen realms. (Because they are possessed by its craving.) In the form realm, there are fourteen. Which fourteen? Those excluding the realms of smell, taste, nose consciousness, and tongue consciousness. Smell and taste do not exist in the form realm, because they are morsel food (there is no enjoyment of smell and taste other than perception and tasting, therefore), those who are free from attachment to them are born there. Then does touch also become non-existent? For touch, there are two types, morsel food and non-morsel food, so although there is no touch as morsel food, there is the basis of form such as the senses, (the basis of houses, etc.,) and the touch of clothes, etc. For smell and taste, there is no non-morsel food. Even if we assume there is, it is not necessary in the form realm. Therefore

Moreover, the two consciousnesses of nose and tongue do not exist either, because they have no objects. Form and sound exist in the desire realm and are apprehended by other faculties, but odors and the like are apprehended upon contact, so even if they exist in the desire realm, they are not their objects. This is the assertion of the Vaibhashikas. If you say that they do not arise because there is no need, then the nose and tongue faculties would also not exist. This is for the purpose of beautifying the body (including adornment). Beautification can be accomplished through the support of the faculties (because the faculties have no support). There is no need without a cause (it does not arise because of need). The cause of the faculties is the accumulation of karma due to craving for them (because it exists, it is not without cause, but because of the cause). If someone is free from craving for objects, then he is also free from the faculties that possess objects, therefore it is reasonable that it does not arise without a cause. The teacher refutes in this way. The Vaibhashikas believe that a support without faculties is impossible. Beings also accumulate karma because they crave for bodies with faculties. The Sutra also says that when practicing in the form realm, the faculties are not incomplete (if you say this contradicts, then it refers to the existing faculties not being incomplete. Otherwise, male and female faculties would also exist. Therefore, from the perspective of one's own continuum, craving for the six sense sources such as the eye is universal, but not from the perspective of focusing on objects, so even if one is free from attachment to objects, one is not free from the faculties. Therefore, because there is a cause, there are nose and tongue faculties. The cause of male and female faculties is the universal craving that arises from contact with objects, so from the perspective of objects, craving exists, therefore it does not exist, and those that have not separated have not abandoned it). Therefore, the nose and tongue faculties exist. Belonging to the formless realm are the three realms of mind, dharma, and consciousness. Because those who are free from attachment to form are born there, there are no ten form realms there, and because they do not exist, there are also no results of their (support and object), the five consciousness realms.

Furthermore, among the eighteen realms, the three realms just mentioned—the mind realm, the dharma realm, and the consciousness realm—have both defiled and undefiled aspects. These three, which belong to the truth of the path, and the unconditioned are undefiled. The rest are defiled. The remaining ten form realms and their results, the five consciousness realms, all fifteen are entirely defiled, because they are abandoned by cultivation, and the defilements increase. The Exemplifiers hold that the form aggregate of an Arhat and the vessel world are neither antidotes to defilements nor supports of defilements, and therefore are both defiled and undefiled, but this is not correct, because it contradicts the distinction, and a third aggregate is impossible. When explaining the limb of meditation of the eighth ground, the Exemplifiers say that the touch and body consciousness, which are extremely refined and included in the limb of enlightenment, are also considered undefiled. Explanation of the aggregates, realms, and sources other than form and mind.
