And it is said that in the present realm, there is no lack of mindfulness close to the true Dharma. Because there is no complete taming, there is no equal abiding, which refers to the mind and mind-born phenomena of the desire realm. Although there is one-pointedness of mind there, it is because the mind and mind-born phenomena are not grasped by complete taming. Therefore, it is said. (Therefore, arising in the realm of mind alone, this nature is contaminated.) If together with retinue, then the meditation-born wisdom practiced in the form realm is the following fifth aggregate. Because the last two are mind-following, the samadhi of dhyana is the following form. The meditation-born wisdom of the formless realm is the fourth aggregate, because there is no following form. (Innate wisdom follows the meaning through listening to treatises, so from innate wisdom, the three wisdoms of hearing, thinking, and meditation arise sequentially, and meditation-born wisdom also arises from the contaminated to the uncontaminated, so the order of these is also determined in this way.) These are also analyzed by taking the tenets of the Vaibhashikas as the standard, but the Sutrantikas and Yogacharas consider only the fourth aggregate together with the retinue, because they do not accept that contaminated and uncontaminated wisdom has a following form. Regarding treatises, (some say,) there is no establishment of main and retinue, (because it is non-associated, although there are arising, etc., but the Kashmiris think) it is only an aggregate of formations. (So they say. Some say that although it is non-associated, the collection of names, words, and letters is the main thing, and their nature, such as arising, is the retinue. Sutrantikas.) If some consider the treatise to be the nature of sound itself, then the retinue, such as arising, is form combined with the aggregate of formations, and they consider it to be the second aggregate. Some say that for treatises, entering into wisdom is the main thing, and the six aggregates of Dharma, etc. (because they are limbs) are the retinue. (Divided into three:) Uncontaminated wisdom is the Dharma Abhidharma of the result, and the four types of innate wisdom, etc., are the Dharma Abhidharma of the cause, and the treatise is the Dharma Abhidharma of the text (divided into three).

即,第一是真实义,后面的那些是以果之名施于因,以所诠之名施于能诠,如论师陈那所说: 智慧到彼岸无二, 彼智慧即是如来, 因具彼所成之义, 故经道中有彼之声。 如是宣说。(第四是,)为何称为阿毗达磨? 所谓dharma(梵文天城体:धर्म,梵文罗马拟音:dharma,汉语字面意思:法)是因为dhar(梵文天城体:धर्,梵文罗马拟音:dhar,汉语字面意思:持)是执持,所以是法;所谓abhિમukha(梵文天城体:अभिमुख,梵文罗马拟音:abhimukha,汉语字面意思:现前)是现前的门;所谓abhikṣaṇa(梵文天城体:अभीक्ष्ण,梵文罗马拟音:abhikṣaṇa,汉语字面意思:再三)是现前又现前;所谓abhibhūya(梵文天城体:अभिभूय,梵文罗马拟音:abhibhūya,汉语字面意思:压伏)是现前压伏;所谓abhisamaya(梵文天城体:अभिसमय,梵文罗马拟音:abhisamaya,汉语字面意思:现观)是现前证悟,所以是阿毗达磨。

That is, the first is the ultimate meaning, and the latter are the application of the name of the result to the cause, and the application of the name of the expressed to the expresser, as the teacher Dignāga said: Wisdom beyond is non-dual, That wisdom is the Thus-gone One, Because it possesses the meaning of that which is to be accomplished, Therefore, in the scriptures, there is its sound. As it is said. (The fourth is,) Why is it called Abhidharma? The so-called dharma (Sanskrit Devanagari: धर्म, Sanskrit Romanization: dharma, Chinese literal meaning: law) is because dhar (Sanskrit Devanagari: धर्, Sanskrit Romanization: dhar, Chinese literal meaning: holding) is holding, so it is dharma; the so-called abhimukha (Sanskrit Devanagari: अभिमुख, Sanskrit Romanization: abhimukha, Chinese literal meaning: facing) is the door of manifestation; the so-called abhikṣaṇa (Sanskrit Devanagari: अभीक्ष्ण, Sanskrit Romanization: abhikṣaṇa, Chinese literal meaning: repeatedly) is manifestation again and again; the so-called abhibhūya (Sanskrit Devanagari: अभिभूय, Sanskrit Romanization: abhibhūya, Chinese literal meaning: subduing) is manifestation of subduing; the so-called abhisamaya (Sanskrit Devanagari: अभिसमय, Sanskrit Romanization: abhisamaya, Chinese literal meaning: realization) is manifestation of realization, so it is Abhidharma. In order, it is for holding the self-characteristic and the common characteristic, conforming to the truths and the qualities of enlightenment, and showing the doors of liberation, etc., it is the door of manifestation that tends towards Nirvana, and for each dharma, it is also repeatedly manifested and determined by various distinctions such as form and formlessness, expressible and inexpressible, and by means of the basis of disputes and arguments, etc., the opponents of others are manifestly subdued, and for the sake of manifestly realizing the meaning of the sutras. As it is also said, in the Ornament of the Sutras, it is said: For the sake of manifestation and repeatedly, Subduing and realizing, it is called manifest dharma. For this reason, why is it called Kośa? Because in this treatise, the meaning of the seven Abhidharma treatises and the Vaisheshika, those meanings are truly, that is, the precious ones are all contained within, so it is the Kośa of Abhidharma, just as the place where the sword is placed is the scabbard. Another way of saying it is that the source of this treatise is the seven Abhidharma treatises and the great Vaisheshika, so it is called the Dharma Abhidharma Kośa, that is, the treasure taken from the Abhidharma Kośa, for example, the place where the sword is taken out is the scabbard, or for the treasure taken from the Kośa, it is said that this is my Kośa. Now, explaining the necessity and the first teacher, the commentary says: Also, why is Abhidharma taught? Who taught this in the beginning? In this way, is the teacher respectful of explaining the Abhidharma Kośa? As it appears.
