It is so called because it tames from conceptualization and protects from bad destinies and existence. The noble teacher Āryadeva said: "That which tames all the enemies of afflictions, and protects from bad destinies and existence, because of its qualities of taming and protecting, it is called a treatise, these two are not found in other systems." This is what was said. Furthermore, why is this treatise called Abhidharma and its treasury? The answer is that in order to explain the meaningful name, it is called Abhidharma and so on. Among them (the nature and divisions of Abhidharma, and how many aggregates there are when it is with its retinue, and the first of the four etymologies is that the wisdom that thoroughly distinguishes the Dharma, along with its retinue. The second is divided into two, and the first of the two divisions of the third.) Abhidharma is of two kinds: ultimate truth and conventional truth. The first is (of the three paths of seeing, meditation, and no-more-learning.) The wisdom that thoroughly distinguishes the Dharma, the undefiled (i.e., outflows) following retinue, together with the five or four aggregates. Defilement is here considered to be outflow. Therefore, undefiled wisdom arises in the retinue of the three paths of seeing, meditation, and no-more-learning, and follows, this is the Abhidharma of ultimate truth. (The third is how many aggregates there are when it is with its retinue, among the two, how many aggregates there are when the characteristic one is with its retinue, that is, the follower.) The follower is (born without separating in one assembly.) If these three paths rely on the six dhyāna grounds, then it is the five aggregates, that is, the undefiled discipline is the aggregate of form, and the actual existence of the first and second is mental pleasure, the third is pleasure, the near attainment of the first, and the special actual existence of the first, and the equanimity of the fourth actual existence are feeling, because there are also the aggregates of perception, formation, and consciousness. If the latter two paths rely on the first three formless realms, then it is the four aggregates, because there is no form there, but there are other aggregates such as feeling. Invincible and, especially the dhyāna ground, and that is the same ground as the Dharma peak, because it will be explained as such, so the path of seeing does not rely on the formless realm, the path of seeing with desire
