That is called. Therefore, completely destroying all obscurations on all knowable things indicates the perfection of abandonment. This also implicitly indicates the perfection of wisdom, because it shows the destruction of all obstacles to knowing all knowable things. Abandonment is also not confused with the antidote. The antidote is also the wisdom that knows how many and how they exist. (Although the Mahayana tradition considers four or five kinds of wisdom, the Hinayana tradition considers only two, knowing how many and how they exist.) Therefore, here, the teachers who explain that the word "all" indicates abandonment and the word "completely" indicates the perfection of wisdom are not correct. Because those words do not constitute the expressed and the expresser, and it is not understood implicitly. Thus, the perfection of abandonment and realization is the perfection of one's own benefit. The perfection of benefiting others is the term "samsara." Because it revolves in the three realms, it is called samsara. Because they experience birth and death without beginning or end in them. It is also the place where all things are attached, so it is the nature of drowning. Because it is unstable and must rely on others to overcome, it is difficult to overcome, like a swamp. Samsara is moistened by craving and so on, and is the place where beings are attached. Because it is driven by views and doubts, and because one must rely on the Buddha to overcome it, it is a difficult swamp of samsara. Leading beings who are drowning there is to liberate them from it. (The method of accomplishing the benefit of others is perfect. So, what is the benefit of others?) By showing the meaning as it is, that is, by showing the path to liberation as it is. (The teacher, with compassion, shows the meaning of the four truths as they are, without reversing them, with the activity of speech, extending the hands of teaching the holy Dharma, to guide beings, according to their capacity, from samsara, and not by other means. If there is no difference between samsara and beings, then the word "source" is not appropriate. If so, there is no problem with saving those who have common and special capacities.) This is stated in the commentary: "Not by the power of miracles and excellent giving." Therefore, some

It is said that beings are led by the power of the magical abilities of Kṣitigarbha and by the power of the noble giving of the Great Lord. Or, distinguishing between magical abilities, noble giving, and power, power is the ability, such as the ability of jewels and medicines to cure epidemics, etc., thus leading beings. These statements should be refuted, because without showing the correct path, no one can be liberated from samsara. The *Udanavarga* says: "I have shown you the path that cuts off the suffering of existence. You yourselves must accomplish it, for the Tathagatas are only teachers." Its commentary says: "The Buddhas do not wash away sins with water, nor do they remove the suffering of beings with their hands, nor is it by transferring their own realization to others, but they liberate beings by teaching the peaceful nature of reality." The noble Nagarjuna also said: "Extending the hand of teaching with compassion, creating the seed of liberation, they lead beings from the evil realms and from existence." Therefore, (second, the prostration is) to the teacher who is perfectly endowed with the benefit of self and others (with means), (endowed with three perfections) is prostrated to (the manner is, the commentary says, "Having prostrated" means having bowed the head, thus indicating reverence with the three doors). This is praise. Therefore, the teacher Gampopa, through this verse, shows that the Bhagavan and his teachings and disciples are superior to other teachers, teachings, and disciples, because they possess abandonment and perfect wisdom, are the means of transcending samsara, and have transcended the mire of samsara. This is how it is explained. (Second, the condensed meaning is shown by what, what, and how it is to be explained. Third, the meaning of the words is) Having thus prostrated (what to do?), the treatise of the Abhidharma Kosha will be thoroughly explained. This is the vow to explain, wherein Dharma and Kosha will be explained. The treatise is Śāstra in Sanskrit, where Śāsa means to tame, and trāyati means to protect, that is, from afflictions and
