Therefore, in order not to change, it is also added here. Because it is not the place of defilements, the defilements are incompatible with them, and they are incompatible with the defilements. Here, saying "three" is to refute the Sthavira school, which says that unconditioned Nirvana is the only one, and the Vaibhashika school, which says that unconditioned subtle particles, etc., are numerous, so the king's son explains. If it is said that merely because conditioned things other than the path are said to be contaminated, it can be indirectly understood that the path and the unconditioned are uncontaminated, then repeating it is meaningless. In response to this, the teacher Guna Mati and Karmapa believe that the word "path" can refer to both the worldly path and the supramundane path, therefore, in order to avoid the misunderstanding that the worldly path is also uncontaminated, it is specifically said "uncontaminated path truth," and the word "truth" is mentioned. Because the worldly path is only a path, not a path truth, because it is included in the truth of suffering and the truth of origin. Or, elaborating on what has already been established is for the sake of certainty, because fame can be determined by understanding the meaning, but what is not famous cannot, and the unconditioned is also not famous, so it is explained in this way. Some people think that even if it is understood through meaning, just as feelings have three types: pleasure, pain, and equanimity, it is to refute the doubt about the third aggregate of the aspects of negation and affirmation. For example, the Vaibhashikas believe that the eyes, etc., of an Arhat and external forms, etc., are not the basis of defilements, so they are also uncontaminated, but because they are not the antidote to defilements, they are also contaminated (the three aggregates). In order to refute such wrong views and doubts, "uncontaminated path truth," etc., are mentioned. Because according to the view of the Vaibhashika school, the eyes, etc., in the continuum of an Arhat and the external vessel world are only contaminated, so it is said. Second, explaining the unconditioned in detail, then what are these three types of unconditioned? They are space, cessation through discrimination, and cessation without discrimination. Why? Because they are not manifestly conditioned by causes and conditions. If it is said that cessation through discrimination is not manifestly conditioned by the path?

Why is it called unconditioned? Because it is called the fruit of separation from abandoning the contaminated objects to be abandoned by the path, and it is not a newly created entity. This is because the Vaibhashikas consider it to be a permanent substance, and other schools say that it is empty in nature. If Suchness is also not unconditioned, then why is it said to be threefold? If Suchness is considered to be selflessness, then other schools do not accept the selflessness of phenomena. The selflessness of persons is considered to be the sixteen aspects of the four noble truths, such as impermanence. Therefore, the aspects of the truth of cessation are the nature of individual analytical cessation, and the aspects of the three truths are the nature of conditioned phenomena, so there is no separate unconditioned phenomenon called Suchness. (Second, explaining the unconditioned in detail:) What is the nature of these three unconditioned phenomena? Among these three aspects, space (name) is (unconditioned, unobscured, unspecified, substantially existent), and its characteristic (because where there is space for form) is unobscured (because it can perform the function of support), because it is free from both the obscured and the obscurer. Therefore, that which is free from obscuration and opens up space for form is space. Then, mind and other unobstructed formations, and the two cessations should also become space, because they are without obscuration. No, because yogis, through the power of samadhi, obscure the walking and staying of others, and the dwelling of the mind in a certain place, etc. (Samadhi also obscures the arising of the mind and mental factors that are to be negated by samadhi itself.) Individual analytical cessation (the substance that possesses it) obscures the arising of contaminated phenomena, and non-individual analytical cessation obscures the arising of conditioned phenomena, both contaminated and uncontaminated, that do not arise. Although this is the answer, in that case, space would also become incomplete in its unobscured nature, because it obstructs the downward fall of wind and other things. If it does not remain there, then space cannot be established as the support of wind, which the Vaibhashikas must deny. The Sutra school considers space to be separate from form, and merely the space for form.
