There are two types of generation stages: self-generation and front-generation. First, purify with Svabhava (self-nature). From within emptiness, one transforms into Vajrapani (Buddhist protector deity), with a Hum (ཧཱུྃ，हूँ，hūṃ，seed syllable) at the heart, emitting light. From the Dharmadhatu, invite the Guru, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas, ‘Vajrapani Samaja (བཛྲ་པཱ་ཎི་ས་མཱ་ཛཿ，वज्र पाणि समा ज，vajra pāṇi samā ja，Vajrapani, descend!)’, ‘Namo Gurubhya (ན་མོ་གུ་རུ་བྷྱཿ，नमो गुरुभ्य，namo gurubhya，Homage to the Gurus)’, ‘By whose kindness…’ etc., and ‘The one with braids…’ etc., prostrate. Take refuge in the Three Jewels, perform the seven-branch offering, etc., cultivate the four immeasurables. Om, Shunyata Jnana… (ༀ་ཤུ་ནྱ་ཏ་ཛྙཱ་ན，ॐ शुन्यता ज्ञान，oṃ śunyatā jñāna，Om, emptiness wisdom) Accumulate merit. In the center of the wish-fulfilling ocean, the dragon palace, the cloud palace, on the center of an eight-petaled lotus, a Hum (ཧཱུྃ，हूँ，hūṃ，seed syllable) emits light. A blue vajra, marked with Hum (ཧཱུྃ，हूँ，hūṃ，seed syllable), completely transforms, one becomes Bhagavan Vajrapani, wearing blue clothes, with four faces and eight arms. The right face is white, the left face is red, the back face is green, the root face is the same color as the body, blue like a lapis lazuli mountain. Each face has three red, glaring eyes, four bared fangs, and red-yellow beard and hair burning like fire. The two right and left hands hold a vajra and a bell at the heart. The three right hands hold a sword, a wheel, and an iron hook, the three left hands hold a trident, a phurba, and a cloud lasso. The upper body is draped with blue water silk, the lower body wears a tiger skin and a garland of fresh human skulls. The two feet press down on the four tails of the eight nagas. All eight nagas hold their palms together towards the Bhagavan. At the crown of Vajrapani is Om (ༀ，ॐ，oṃ，seed syllable), at the throat is Ah (ཨཱཿ，आ，āḥ，seed syllable), at the heart is Hum (ཧཱུྃ，हूँ，hūṃ，seed syllable). Hum (ཧཱུྃ，हूँ，hūṃ，seed syllable) emits light, inviting the wisdom being. ‘Vajrapani Samaya Ja (བཛྲ་པཱ་ཎི་ས་མཱ་ཡ་ཛཿ，वज्र पाणि समय ज，vajra pāṇi samaya ja，Vajrapani, oath being, descend!)’, Ja Hum Bam Ho (ཛཿཧཱུྃ་བཾཿཧོ，जः हूँ बम हो，jaḥ hūṃ baṃ ho，invite, merge, bind, delight). Become inseparable. Again, empower, purify defilements. From the remaining water droplets that flow upwards, be sealed by Akshobhya. Around the Hum (ཧཱུྃ，हूँ，hūṃ，seed syllable) at the heart, recite: ‘Om Nilambara Dhara Vajrapani Hum Phet (ༀ་ནི་ལམ་བྷ་ར་དྷ་ར་བཛྲ་པཱ་ཎི་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ，ओम् निलम्बर धर वज्र पाणि हुम् फट，oṃ nilambara dhara vajra pāṇi hūṃ phaṭ，Om, Nilambara, Holder of the Vajra, Hum, Phet)’. Recite as much as possible. During the session breaks, offer: Bless the offerings. Although the wrathful king has no defilements, offer white water, red water, scented water, medicinal water, nectar, and milk. Offer to you, wrathful king. Vajrapani Argham Pratitsa Ye Svaha (བཛྲ་པཱ་ཎི་ཨརྒྷཾ་པྲ་ཏིཙྪ་ཡེ་སྭཱཧཱ，वज्र पाणि अर्घं प्रतिच्छ ये स्वाहा，vajra pāṇi arghaṃ praticcha ye svāhā，Vajrapani, accept the offering water, Svaha). Offer five precious flowers, those born from water and those born from land, and all flowers emanated from the mind. Offer to the crown of the Vajra Holder. Pushpe (པུཥྤེ，पुष्पे，puṣpe，flower). Offer the fragrance of camphor, galangal, six spices, agarwood, turuka, musk, and sandalwood, offer to the unobstructed fragrance. Dhupe (དྷུ་པཾ，धूपं，dhūpaṃ，incense).
