Now, pray for the appearance of the protecting gods and goddesses. Pray for the cutting off of the evil gates of the six realms of samsara. Pray for liberation from the great ocean of suffering in samsara. Pray for guidance to the pure realms of the three bodies. Say this. Then, from the bodies of the objects of confession, emanate the five nectars and rays of light, which dissolve into your own body, speech, and mind, purifying all sins, obscurations, habitual patterns, and sufferings, like lighting a lamp in the darkness, and generate such faith. Let them perform the ritual of confession. The introduction to the true meaning. Then, in order to introduce the true meaning, say this: Now that you have performed the ritual of confession, listen without being distracted by other thoughts, as I introduce the meaning of reality. The Bhagavan said in the Lankavatara Sutra: The mind disturbed by habitual patterns, greatly appears as real. It is not real, it is the nature of mind itself. Seeing external objects as real is mistaken. And, in the Ten Bhumi Sutra, it is said: Sons of the Victorious Ones, these three realms are only mind. Thus, all that appears, the external container world and the various sentient beings within, all appear due to the force of habituating negative habitual patterns since beginningless time, appearing even though they do not exist. Especially for you, in this intermediate state, all that appears, such as happiness, suffering, good, bad, fear, and so on, is due to the delusion of the mind, grasping what does not exist as existing, and thus feeling distressed. Therefore, do not grasp these as real, know them to be like illusory horses and cattle. Just as external objects of grasping are not established as real, so too, the internal grasping mind is not established as real. In the Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita Sutra, it is said: Mind has no mind, the nature of mind is luminosity. And, in the Ratnakuta Sutra, it is said: Kashyapa, mind is not inside, nor outside, nor in between the two, and is invisible. And so on, it is said. Looking at the reality of mind, it does not exist anywhere in the three, inside, outside, or in between the body. Its essence is not established as self-formed. In short, know it to be like the sky, naturally luminous, beyond even the sight of the Buddhas.
