The earth is vast and expansive, and you will surely be liberated by the power of others, so you need not grieve over death. In particular, we, the teachers and students, will also cultivate the deity mantra samadhi of the noble Avalokiteśvara, with love and compassion, and with a special mind of bodhicitta. Through the generation and invocation of the deity, the removal of obstacles and sins, the introduction to the bardo, the confession of sins and purification of obscurations, the offering of food and gifts, the guidance of the path and transference of consciousness, and other profound path instructions, we will accomplish great benefit for you. Therefore, you yourself should also understand the appearances of the bardo as unreal and illusory, and with love and compassion for all sentient beings who have been your mothers and are as vast as space, generate the vast mind of wanting to attain enlightenment for their benefit, and meditate in this way. The Ritual of Confessing Sins In the sky in front of you, visualize the root and lineage lamas, Samantabhadra, the Five Buddhas, the Great Vajradhara, the Twelve Teachers of Dzogchen, the Seven Buddhas of the Past, the Eight Medicine Buddhas, the Thirty-Five Buddhas of Confession, the Thousand Buddhas of the Fortunate Aeon, and so on. All the Buddhas of the ten directions and three times, along with the Eight Close Sons and countless Bodhisattvas, are present like dense clouds. Imagine that all sentient beings, with you at the head, are present before them. The presence of the lamas, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas in the sky in front of you is the power of the support. Prostrations, refuge, and aspirations are the power of the remedy that is universally practiced. Generating intense remorse for past misdeeds is the power of repudiation. Resolving to abandon sinful actions even at the cost of your life in the future is the power of restoration. While constantly relying on these four powers within your own being, having great joy and diligently practicing the lama and instructions is pure faith. Having no doubt about karma and its results is the faith of conviction. Desiring to quickly attain the state of Buddhahood for the benefit of sentient beings is the faith of aspiration. With a firm three faiths, with sincere devotion and intense longing,
