is abiding. That is, it touches the supreme Samadhi of peace, which possesses the wisdom of realizing the unborn in the ultimate sense. The supreme Dharma of the path of application is: When any Bodhisattva abides single-mindedly in the meaning of the absence of aggregates, etc., in the ultimate sense, here, I abide in the Samadhi of peaceful supreme Dharma, which was prophesied to be enlightened by the Tathagatas of the past. When abiding in that Samadhi, do I abide? Have I arisen from it? There is no arrogance of clinging to reality with such thoughts. Why? Because all phenomena such as aggregates are completely known to be empty of self-nature in the ultimate sense, and are cultivated single-mindedly. Such conduct is the conduct of the wisdom of the supreme Dharma spoken by the Sugatas, and because it is well known that it is conduct without clinging to reality, the Dharma that is practiced does not become an object of focus in the ultimate sense, because there is no established Dharma in the ultimate sense. Therefore, such conduct is the conduct of the supreme Prajnaparamita. They have individually shown the objects and aspects of the four paths of application, and indirectly cast the distinctions of small, medium, and large. These, if combined with the Ornament of Clear Realization, should be combined with "object and aspect," etc. Then, the four objects to be abandoned on the four paths of application are the four conceptualizations of grasping and being grasped: Whatever is not existent is said to be non-existent. The two verses show this. Among the first two grasping conceptualizations, the grasping conceptualization of affliction is focused on the Dharma of the afflicted side, and the grasping conceptualization of purification is focused on the Dharma of the purified side, and is held to be truly existent as the object to be grasped, that is: Any Dharma that is not existent as it appears to ordinary beings is said to be truly non-existent. And childish ordinary beings, then, measure and cling to those grasped Dharmas as truly existent, and grasp them as truly existent and non-existent in name only. Such extremes of existence and non-existence are also Dharmas that do not exist in the ultimate sense, and any Bodhisattva who knows this well will escape from Samsara and be liberated. Secondly, among the grasping conceptualizations, the substance clinging

is subsequent. Attachment is to grasp by focusing on the object of attachment, and to truly cling to the grasper. Any Bodhisattva should know that these five aggregates, people, and their minds, etc., although appearing to be real, are not actually real, like illusions. People and aggregates are like conventional illusions, therefore, one should not regard their true emptiness and the two as others with different essences, because the two have the same essence. For such a dharma, being free from various attachments to the grasper and the grasped, and practicing in tranquility, this is practicing on the supreme path of Prajnaparamita. These reveal the main content to be abandoned by the four stages of the path of application, such as heat, etc., which are the four manifestations of the cognitive obscurations of complete imputation. In the extensive and intermediate treatises, there are sixteen divisions of concepts, each division having a topic heading, but in the Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita and here, they are explained in brief. These are explained in the Ornament for Clear Realization by "The basis and its antidote," etc. The upholding of the path of application is revealed by one verse, such as "Having virtuous friends." The latter is to be in accordance with the virtuous friend of the Mahayana, and inwardly possessing shamatha and vipassana, great compassion, etc., such a person will not be afraid when hearing the mother of the Buddhas, the Prajnaparamita. But those who are in accordance with evil friends and are dominated by others are not suitable to hear this mother, because they will be afraid when hearing the dharma of emptiness. This is like pouring water into an unbaked clay pot, which will cause the pot to break. This upholding is extensive in the extensive, intermediate, and concise treatises. This is explained in the Ornament for Clear Realization by four lines such as "Non-arising mind nature, etc." Fourth, in order to jointly explain the basis for practicing the Great Vehicle—the naturally abiding lineage and the object of practice, why are the four lines such as "This is" used to reveal? First, in the extensive and intermediate treatises, there are thirteen topic headings that explain the basis for practice—the thirteen qualities, but in the Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita and here, they are also explained in brief. Therefore, the first verse here

The two show the lineage. Why is this Bodhisattva called a hero? Because he cuts off the attachment to the two obscurations, and he wishes that the true attachment to all dharmas would disappear, so he is called Bodhisattva. The mind in his continuum is the basis for realizing emptiness, called the naturally abiding lineage. By practicing the Mahayana, meditating with it as the goal, it will be improved. This is explained in the Ornament of Clear Realization with "The six dharmas of discrimination" and so on. The object of practice is: In the extensive and medium versions, there are eleven objects, each with a sutra basis. In the Eight Thousand Verses and here, it is also summarized and shown with the last two lines of "The Buddhas". The reason is the same as before, and moreover, the Bodhi of the Buddhas is without defilement, in order to obtain omniscience, touching this reason, so this person obtained the name of Bodhisattva, and the objects are drawn out by explaining the meaning of the word Bodhisattva. This is explained in the Ornament of Clear Realization with "The object is all dharmas" and so on. The sixth is the purpose: Each of the three Mother Sutras has three sutra passages, and here it is summarized and shown with four lines such as "Why for the sake". Why is this Bodhisattva called a great hero? Because he is the leader and supreme of many sentient beings, and he wishes to cut off the various wrong views of the sentient realm, so he is called a great hero, the former directly shows the great mind, and the latter directly shows the great renunciation, thus indirectly drawing out the great realization. This is explained in the Ornament of Clear Realization with "The supreme of all sentient beings is the mind" and so on with four lines. In short, one who seeks Bodhi for his own benefit is called Bodhisattva, and one who seeks it for the benefit of others is called a great hero. The seventh is realization: In the extensive and medium versions, there are many sutra passages that separately show the thirty-six realizations, which are summarized in the Eight Thousand Verses, and here also summarized with two lines such as "Great giving and great wisdom". Among them, to illustrate from the six perfections: Giving is the great giver, wisdom is the great wisdom, and power is the great power.
