It should be known that (the Buddhas) always abide in the heroes (Bodhisattvas), which is to bestow the Bodhisattva empowerment. The teacher said that up to this point, the actual peak union has been completely explained, but from the perspective of gathering, the method of union is not yet complete. Therefore, all pure beings who think of others should diligently practice and act in accordance with the perfection of diligence. How to act? For example, a maid has no autonomy and must obey her master. Similarly, the Bodhisattva heroes are also governed by all sentient beings. The master can discipline the servant with words, or constantly whip him with his body, but the servant will not speak evil words to his master. If he does, he will think, 'This master will beat me or even kill me,' so he submits with extreme fear and dread. Similarly, the Bodhisattva who enters the supreme Bodhi for the sake of Bodhi should abide as if he has become a servant of all beings. Thinking: Relying on these beings, I will attain the Bodhi of the Buddha and perfect the merits. For example, just as fire born from grass and trees burns the grass and trees themselves, if the Bodhi that arises from relying on sentient beings harms those sentient beings, it will decline. Therefore, one should abandon one's own happiness and, with a selfless mind, diligently accomplish the needs of other beings day and night in order to benefit them, seeking to attain Bodhi. Just as a mother takes extra care, protects, and heals her only child, one should remain with a firm resolve, tirelessly benefiting sentient beings. The teacher said that through these, the momentary union and the resultant Dharmakaya and activities are also shown. However, these contents appear when explaining the perfection of diligence. If they are combined with the previous content, then any Bodhisattva who, for the benefit of sentient beings, wants to wander and abide in samsara for a long time, and for the benefit of sentient beings and

If that yogi who strives to purify the Buddha-field does not waver even a mote of dust in his mind for the sake of sentient beings, then that bodhisattva possesses the most excellent perfection of diligence and is not distracted by laziness. Some bodhisattvas who are unskilled in means, when they hear that they must practice for countless eons to attain the enlightenment of the Buddha, if they perceive the duration to be very long and practice accordingly, then they must attain enlightenment through enduring suffering for a long time. If they become discouraged when practicing the true Dharma of enlightenment, they will suffer for a long time. Therefore, that bodhisattva is lazy, having lost the perfection of armor-like diligence. So what should be done? From the moment of first generating the mind for supreme enlightenment, until the attainment of unsurpassed enlightenment, if one thinks of the duration as only a short day and night, then the wise person should recognize that he has initiated great armor-like diligence. Furthermore, the way to initiate armor should be done like this: If someone says, "If you can destroy the king of mountains, Mount Meru, together with its foothills, then after destroying it, you will attain the enlightenment of the Buddha," and upon hearing that, if one thinks, "This is very difficult," and generates a mind of discouragement and despondency, and thinks, "Mount Meru is so huge, who could do such a thing?" then at that time, that bodhisattva has become lazy. If one thinks, "What is so difficult about destroying Mount Meru? What difficulty is there? With the attainment of miraculous powers, in an instant, I shall turn Mount Meru into ashes," and generates courage like that, then the wise bodhisattva has initiated great diligence, and he will quickly attain the supreme enlightenment that leads without delay. If one is completely ripened by clinging to reality and then acts, if one strives with body, speech, and mind, because one abides in the thought of self, one becomes very lazy, and one becomes as distant from attaining the state of omniscience as the distance between heaven and earth. At any time when there is no true clinging to body, mind, and sentient beings, and
